[Opinions] Robin (b)
I am completely in love with the name Robin for a boy! It is officially on my list of name for future sons, which is very short so I am happy to have another to add to it. Just wanted to know what everyone thinks of Robin?
Also, how does it go with my other boys names?
Arlo William
Holden Lewis
I was thinking maybe Robin Michael (after my SO), wdyt?
Thanks! :)

Robin's actually the best of your names and while Michael on its own doesn't seem too exciting, the fact that it has significance gives it charm 'cause it's not ugly... just widely used.
Arlo and Holden don't do it for me though... esp. Holden. Too surnamey Arlo's tolerable, though it's nmsaa. William and Lewis are fairly neutral names to me.

I love this name, I think it's so handsome! I think it goes quite well with your other names for future sons, I'd love to see it used. =)
I like Robin very much: it's been on my top 10 since before I had a top 10! I also like William very much and Lewis somewhat. Holden used to be the Australian name for Ford cars, so that with Catcher in the Rye eliminates it for me, and Arlo is too Guthrie.
Robin Michael works very nicely. My cousin is Arthur Robin, always known as Robin (the ln starts with T - rather ART than RAT!)

so his initials are a potential nn for his fn...
I really like Robin for a boy and Robin Michael is a nice combo. Holden Lewis is also a good combo and would match with Robin Michael. Arlo doesn't fit in though, but William as a mn would work for another fn.
Yes, yes, yes to Robin for a boy! Love it. Robin Michael it is. :-) I'm sure it's a gender thing, but I always think of Robin and Cary together. I love them both for boys.
Arlo William is folksy-terrific. Perfect with Robin Michael.
I'm not into Holden. It makes me think the parent never matured beyond "Catcher in the Rye." I never read the book so I shouldn't judge. It's just that everyone else did as a teen and so that's how I associate it. So Holden is rather an immature choice to me. Sorry. And the "-ew-" in Lewis is unattractive to my eyes. I much prefer Louis, unless Lewis is a family surname for you.

I hold what seems to be the minority opinion that it's effeminate on a boy. Which doesn't mean that I like it on a girl, as I don't. It's one of those names that is too feminine for a boy and too masculine for a girl. Just neither nor.
Not only that, but it seems too nicknamey (on a boy, at least), because it started out as a nickname for Robert, and I'm of the opinion that if it's going to be used for a boy, it should still be used as such. On a girl, it seems that it's a bird name, but I wouldn't want to think of it as a bird name on a boy, so nickname for Robert it would be. If I really loved Robin on a boy, I'd rather name him Robert and call him Robin, so he has options later in life. As the wife of a man who decided that his childhood nickname was effeminate and chose not to go by it, I'm sensitive to those things.

I actually have met someone named Christopher Robert that I think maybe was occasionally called Christopher Robin.
It's a favorite of mine, too. My husband said no to it, or it might have been my son's name. I guess it may have a slightly childish image for some people, in the abstract (but I think on a grown man it can be perfectly manly and suitable).
I don't personally think it goes with Arlo and Holden. I'd put Russell or Rhys with those. Not that brothers' names need to match.
Robin Michael is great.
