Help[Opinions] Japanese friends just had a son w/ a name I hadn't encountered before
Hiraku
His dad's explanation of the meaning:
拓 this kanji means like cutting a path, or clearing the way, like pioneers.
拓 is also from 開拓. you know 教会開拓 ,that means church planting.
Actually, we named Hiraku from a Hebrew word "Harak".ha-ha. This is the verb means t...o go or to walk,etc. ww ^0^
Isaiah 43:19
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, [and] rivers in the desert.

As a linguist and namenerd, I find having multiple meanings and linguistic sources in the same name pretty cool.
