Matt has never been really close to his family - when he was a teenager he escaped into the music world and as soon as he turned 18 he moved away. Even if Marion have been close to her family her whole life and thinks it's very important to have a strong relationship with your family she can see why Matt has isolated himself from his family; they are criminals, in touch with the mafia, alcoholics and so on. Still, when Matt's younger brother went to prison Marion couldn't let the nephew go to foster care. That's why they took in Lucas Alaric Wingate. Like most Wingates, he has had a troubling childhood. But at Marion and Matt took him in as one their own sons and he has really turned around. He loves to play with Henry and Kieran and have even gotten better grades in school too!
When Lucas had lived with Marion and Matt for a year, they decided to marry! Marion is now Marion Wingate.
