[Opinions] Céline Dion names twins...
Singer Céline Dion and husband René Angélil have named their twin sons Eddy and Nelson! They join older brother René-Charles Dion Angélil (9) and half siblings Patrick (42), Jean-Pierre (36) and Anne-Marie (33).
Explanation:
Edddy comes from Eddy Marnay, who produced the singer's first five records. "He was like a father to her," says Dion's rep. "Eddy is a major influence in both Céline and René's lives."
Nelson is named after Nelson Mandela, whom Dion met two years ago while kicking off her world tour in South Africa. "René said that in just the few minutes they were able to spend with him, they were impressed by the human being he is," says the rep. (Source: people.com)-I'm really not sure how I feel about these names. On the one hand I love honoring names, on the other I really don't like 'these' names and was hoping for something French. But, I guess having more baby Nelsons or Eddys wouldn't be a bad thing, and they're miles better than Bronx or say Zuma.

Not the worst celeb baby names, i can tell you.I suppose the names themselves arn't the most interesting in the world, but i like the fact their honouring.Hey, it's waaayyyyy better than some pretentious rubbish like "Audio Science" or something! ;)

The first thing I thought was, "Nelson Eddy." The second thing I thought was, "They really don't go with Rene, but oh, well."

I actually think they're cute. Something about those two names sound very musical to me. I picture them on musicians. Maybe they'll follow in mom's footsteps! haha

I read she was having heaps of trouble deciding on names and nothing seemed right. At least if there wasn't names she truly loved, she chose names that mean something to her.I'm not particularly fond of either name and I also dislike Rene-Charles.

I am very disappointed in her choices. THe rest of the family gets great French names and the twins get Nelson & Eddy.
Eddy-would be a good nickname. There are so many good Ed- names.
Nelson-so old sounding & boring. I wonder what the middle names are? Maybe they would be better in combos.

Rene-Charles's middle name is Dion, so I assume it's the same with the twins.

I know that René-Charles gets called RCSo RC, Nelson and Eddy is actually a way-cool retro kinda set. Too cool for Celine Dion. Very unexpected. Also, are these the babies that are the clones or "twins" or something of her first son? I remember reading about how they "saved" some embryos from her first pregnancy to use later - I bet these are them. Creepy!

They aren't really clones or twins- many women who go through IVF have a lot of eggs harvested and often more than they need fertilized and then the embryos are frozen for future children. I saw an interview with her not too long ago, and apparently they have tried countless rounds of IVF since Rene-Charles. She had a miscarriage not too long before her pregnancy with the twins and I read these were her last embryos or something from the initial IVF. So the kids wouldn't be any closer genetically than regular brothers.

Congrats to them. Overall, I like the names of Rene's children from his first marriage best.

Thanks for posting these, I was curious.I don't care much for Eddy as a full name, though I rather like Nelson indeed mainly because of the Mandela connection. But the twinset seems a but mismatched.

I like the meaning behind the names, I'm just not keen on the names.

At least the names are real and it's nice to honour Mandela, but I can't say I care about the names.

Well . . . that's a huge let down to be honest. I was expecting some lovely French names as well and they go with . . Eddy and Nelson - *shrugs*. Eddy's not bad but only as a nn. First thing I think of when I hear Nelson is The Simpson's. . .

Me threeMaybe that's why the have put Eddy's name first?

Nelson I can live with. Nelson and Rene-Charles go nicely. Eddy is the one I am not keen on. It seems like they could have named him Edouard and called him Eddy and that would have made a great sib set!
