Just recently (this morning) I've fallen in love with Johanna. German or Dutch pronunciation. For the first time I get why people think Johanna is so romantic. Also, the nickname Johanneke is cute. I don't think of Johanneke as a nn, but as just another form of the same name and it's 1 of my faves... Johanna's nice too.Keepers from the list:

I love the name Johanna. It's very common in Sweden and for me it sounds so kind. It sounds like an old, kind grandmother, like a strong worker from long ago.
Emma Johanna and Elsa Johanna are sweet. Very Swedish.

ditto! I think that's why I love the name so much. It's so pretty and vintage, non fussy and romantic - I love it!I pron. it Jo-anna, but I also like the German pronunciation, however where I live Jo-anna is more natural.

I thought it was JoannaHowever if it is actually Johanna, I am much relieved. I was so disappointed when I heard her name. I find Joanna so dull.

Elma Johanna – I usually don’t like double a endings when it comes to first and middle names but, for some reason, I like this one. I think its because I’ve yet to hear about Elma. I kinda like it.

In the past few months I've really started liking Johanna more, too. But I like it pronounced it in English better. Either way, it's such a soft, romantic, pretty name. In English specifically I think it has a bright, upbeat, nice girl side, too.Holy combos, Batman! Of those I like best:

I love all of your Johanna combos, especially Sunday Johanna and Johanna Amy! Your friend has great name taste.Question. When you pronounce Johanna the English way, is it Jo-anna or Jo-hannah?

Jo + HannaI had a friend Johanna as a kid who pronounced her name that way, so that's the way I've always said it. I'm not sure how my friend pronounced her daughter's name, I've never heard her speak it.Jo-anna would just be Joanna to me.
