What do we think? I poked around and it looks like it's predominately a surname. Would you use it?

This was the name of the elementary school I attended so it seems odd to me as a fn. I also assumed it's a surname, even looked it up at ancestry.com and they have nothing. Now I'm really curious. :-)

I think of Bessemer Bend http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bessemer_Bend,_Wyoming because I live in the same county. I think it would be kind of cool as a mn, but probably only if it was a family name.
