[Opinions] Garnet, Vlinder & Herminie
A few names on my mind...Garnet, the name of a red stone and birth stone for January. Perhaps I like this gem name because it isn't as bling.Vlinder, the Dutch word for butterfly. I must admit, I love this. I think the sound is extremely pretty and very descriptive of a delicate butterfly.Herminie, a name I recently read on Wikipedia, one of the middle names for Stephanie of Belgium, wife of Crown Prince Rudolf. Is this a French form of Hermione or Hermine? I pronounce it air-mee-NEE.Any impressions anyone would like to share for these? What if you saw three sisters named Garnet, Vlinder and Herminie?

Garnet - I dislike most jewel names, and Garnet sounds very masculine to me.Vlinder - Doesn't even sound like a name, to tell the truth. It sounds like a building material.Herminie - Pretty prn, but on the whole seems rather pretentious to me.Garnet, Vlinder, and Herminie would look like a really weird sibset to me.

I would assume Vlinder was a boy, but it does have a smooth soft sound to it. I like Garnet, it's a spunky unusual gemstone name. I also like Opal for the same reason.

I like Garnet, but I'd probably never use it. It's kinda GP for me. If I were to use it, it'd probably be as a middle name.I don't really like Vlinder or Herminie.

I kind of like Garnet in theory, but I don't think I would ever use it. It's sweet, but a little too old lady for my taste.Vlinder just sounds silly to me, and I can't help but think "hermit" when I see Herminie.

Garnet is okay. It has antique charm, if you know what I mean. It's not swollen and glammy like Ruby (which I still like anyway), it's much more modest sounding, like Janet only shiny. (Yeah, not as bling) Probably the only GAR name that I think is nice. I don't think it makes a good guy name. Vlinder wouldn't come out very pretty in my accent, and it'd stand out like a cherry-red mohawk on someone like me, where I live - but I guess somewhere else, or on someone from somewhere else, it could be nice. Romantic and edgy seeming. It's interesting.Herminie sounds lovely. Again, too foreign for my own list, but still lovely.
