I really like the name Julian and don't think it sounds feminine, although I know people who do think so, my mother being such a person. However, I don't feel it goes well with Peter. To me Peter and Julian are totally different styles.

I love Julian!!! It is very soft & sweet sounding but also sophisticated, romantic & current.

Peter, to me, is a little dated & boring. While Julian is fresh but still with history.
I do think they work really good together though because Peter is also a soft sounding name to me.

I like Julian. It does have a slightly more feminine vibe to it than some names, however. To me, it has an artistic, intellectual feel. On the flip side, it does have an almost effete feel, though.

Nice choice. It's a good solid intelligent name, and goes very well with Peter. My parents considered it for me before I was born, and had I been a boy I'd have been happy with it.

I think Julian is lovely. It seems strong and masculine to me and quite regal too. I think Peter and Julian would make a gorgeous sib set, of two classic names.

Peter and Julian would make good brothers. Julian is good because it's "normal" without being common or boring. The only association I have is someone from a chapter book for little kids... it was some series about two brothers, and one of them was named Julian.

Julian isn't the most masculine sounding name out there, but I wouldn't say that it's too effeminate. I guess I'd say that it's basically unisex sounding, but not too girly. Julius and Jules are familiar names for boys, Julia and Juliana are familiar for girls, and there are common names for boys and girls that both end in -ian, so it doesn't strike me as strongly one gender or the other even though I wouldn't recommend using Julian for a girl. When I see the name Julian, I assume that the bearer of the name is male because it's used almost exclusively for boys.

Peter and Julian could work for brothers, but they don't seem like they're the same style to me. Sibling names don't have to necessarily be the same style though.

I love Julian. My dh used to think it was a bit soft until recently. Now, he loves it as much as I do (thanks to Julian Assange, wikileaks). BTW, of all the names you've brought up so far, I think Julian is the best complement to Peter. Perfect!

Julian, while not a macho he-man name, is not too effeminate, either.

We considered that for our son too. (It's amusing me, how some of the names you're considering are ones we seriously considered too. I wonder if you'll end up mentioning my son's actual name =) He had a cousin born when I was about 6 months pregnant, though, who got named Julian. So ... I crossed it right off the list. It annoyed me to be the second one to use it, so soon after the first.

I don't think it's feminine sounding per se. I do think that if the bearer is not very masculine, it can seem less masculine. If the bearer is very masculine, the name seems very masculine. I think it has a certain amount of drama about it, dunno if that makes any sense. I don't mean like theatrical, just that it's resonant ... *sigh* I sound like an idiot. It's the reason I love the name Julia so much. I can't really explain it. I think both Julian and Julia are powerful names, what I call "power names" - but Julia on a girl seems less complex, more predictable, than Julian on a boy does.

I don't think I would have ended up using it, just because I love Julia so much that I would've felt like I was only using Julian to satisfy my desire to use Julia (which was also thwarted, by a close friend using it just before my daughter was born!). But I do think Julian is a good name, and masculine.

Peter and Julian are wonderful, separately and together. I like the fact that they're not quite the same style. I don't consider Julian feminine at all; in fact, I think of it as quite handsome.

It's very cute and hip. Peter and Julian are great as brothers, although I still prefer Peter & Conrad.

Julian is very handsome, distinguished, and intellectual. It doesn't sound at all feminine to me. Peter and Julian would be a very dignified sibset.

Peter and Julian isn't the same style, but that doesn't have to be bad :) They are, after all, individuals.
