[Surname] Zangara origin
I know it's Italian and it means "bootmaker." Variants are Zangaro, Zangari, Zancari, ect.
Does anyone know what area in particular it's from?
My relatives have the name and they're from Palermo, Sicily. (If that starts anything.)
Very proud of my heritage for a third-generation gal. =3

Palermo seems to be a stronghold of the Zangara clan. Go to www.gens.labo.net and type your name into the search engine. A map will show you the distribution of the name. The large number in the Milan ditrict is probably a result of economic migration.
Thank you, Jim! This helps very much.
