Can't support. While I like some retro names (Annette, Yvonne, Claudine, Dorothy, Cecile, Enid, even Loretta), Velma seems really wretched to me. For me its well beyond the retro-novelty boundary, and over in the unusably awkward pile. Who knows though, it might swing back!

I don't really like it. The Scooby Doo association is too strong for me. All I think about when I hear Velma is the cartoon character.

It's jazzy. But it does kinda remind me of Scooby Doo. But that's not neccacarily a bad thing, though (unless you wern't a fan).My favourite out of those is Velma Georgiana.

I guess I'm going to snub it, even though it starts with my favorite name letter, V. I know a Velma, an escalations specialist at my workplace. She's a kind of "up-in-your-face" person. I associate it with her.

Am I the only person that thinks of Scooby Doo? I do like the name Velma, but that's probably because I love Scooby Doo [I was watching it the other day!]. The combos I'm liking are:
Velma Cecilia
Velma Charlotte
Velma Florence
Velma Harriet:)

I don't care for Velma that much but the combo "Velma Jane" sounds nice and really jumps out at me.

so, so, so....CUTE.I don't know what it is about Velma, I just love her snappy style. I picture a little slip of a thing, maybe five foot nothing, with outrageous hair that never behaves, a smart mouth, and an adventurous spirit. I really love these options:Velma Capucine - Ooh la la
Velma Constance
Velma Dagny - IN LOVE. What about Velma Dagmar? Too severe?
Velma Jane
Velma June
Velma Laurence - um YES, she's channeling Edna St. Vincent Millay rather eerily well
Velma Leonore
Velma Lucille
Velma Lucy
Velma Nancy
Velma Rosalind
Velma Rosaline
Velma Susan
Velma Susanna
