They started at the same drug company doing research to develop new medicines for cancers.

In preparation for the large family they hoped to have, Colin and Claire splurged and bought a minivan for their first anniversary.

Year One: Claire gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Henry George Walter Windsor-Van Buren, on August 11, at a birth center.
Year Two: For Henry's first real Christmas, Colin and Claire took him to meet Claire's family. They rang in the New Year in London in a small but comfortable hotel.
Year Three: Claire bought Colin a dog for his birthday! They named their new Boston terrier Ginger Pie.
Year Four: Colin and Claire were thrilled when she gave birth to triplets, two boys and a girls. They were born six weeks prematurely on May 17 while Claire was on a business trip to Egypt. August Basil, Sylvia Rosemary, and Oliver Oren were able to return home in September.
Year Five: On December 5, Claire and Colin welcomed their fifth child! Conor Fintan was born full-term and healthy in a planned water birth.
Year Six: The family made the news in a most unexpected way when Henry found a stray seal playing in their pool! It had been taken from a nearby aquarium and left there by teenage pranksters. Henry and Colin were interviewed on CNN about their discovery.
Year Seven: After seven years at the same drug company, Claire was bored and restless. She submitted samples of her writing to a newspaper syndicate and was picked up as a syndicated medical advice columnist!
Year Eight: Now that her new career allowed her to work from home, Colin and Claire pursued their dream of adopting. They were honored to welcome into their home a twin son and daughter from Cambodia. To pay homage to their parents' background in medicine, they gave them names inspired by scientists: Leonardo Francis and Ada Marie.
Year Nine: After Ginger Pie died unexpectedly of cancer, Henry stole his parents' credit card and ordered a goat on-line! They considered punishing him, but decided picking goat poop off their lawn for years would be punishment enough. The goat was named Trouble.
Year Ten: Inspired by how happy his wife had been with her career change, Colin spent the year training to become a fireman! Unfortunately, the demanding hours of this position proved too stressful for his family, and he returned to the drug company after a few months.
Year Eleven: Now that Leo and Ada were settled in and well-adjusted, Colin and Claire adopted a baby girl, Cosima Romola, from Russia.
Year Twelve: Having recommitted to medical research, Colin received a promotion! Unfortunately this also required a job transfer. The family moved to Massachusetts, and bought a lovely home in a rural suburb. The kids (and Trouble the Goat) loved the extra space.
Year Thirteen: Claire unexpectedly found herself pregnant again! A beautiful baby girl, Fiona Maeve, was born on Christmas day.
Year Fourteen: After several years as a successful columnist, Claire decided to go back to school and study International Relations, with a focus in Asian countries.
Year Fifteen: In a heartbreaking tragedy, Claire's sister, Lucille, and her husband, Michael, died in a plane crash. Lucy and Michael left custody of their three-year old son, Ronan Brendan, to Claire and Colin. Claire temporarily abandoned her studies to help Ronan adjust.

Leonardo (Leo) and Ada, age 11
August (Gus), Sylvia (Sylvie), and Oliver, age 10
