Nelly, Ned, and Nicholas are all wonderful, though I prefer Nell to Nelly, and if I ever did use Nelly, I'd sp it Nellie. Ned doesn't work real well as a full name, either.

Nelly and Freddy are cute as little biuttons, but I wish they were nicknames. Same with Ned, actually.

I like Nelly as a nn for Penelope, Catherine, Ned and Leo.
