Year 1:
Caleb and Isabella's romance sounds like something one would find on the front page of a trashy tabloid--Isabella was a beautiful young teacher at a high school in the suburban US, teaching sophomore geometry. She was quite taken with 15-year-old Caleb--he was funny, witty, and was uncannily talented at proofs. Caleb soon began to stay after class almost until the bell for the next period, and Isabella finds herself re-applying her makeup and fixing her hair before he comes to class. Thoroughly horrified with herself, Isabella distances herself from him, and feels a mixture of sadness and relief when the year is over.
Two years later, Caleb, now 18, makes a surprise appearance at her house two days after his graduation and confesses his love for her. Isabella tries to deny her feelings, but they had always been there, and the two of them soon begin a relationship, much to the scandal of the entire town-and to top it all off, Isabella finds out only three months after they start dating that she is pregnant. Isabella and Caleb decide to run away from all of the adversity. Their destination? Paris, where Isabella grew up with her French mother. Soon after, they elope, and Isabella gets a job teaching math in a French high school, while Caleb makes a decently steady wage doing freelance mechanic work while learning French.
Isabella and Caleb are in for the surprise of their life when they find out they are having twins! Only five months after they move to Paris, Isabella gives birth to two beautiful baby girls, Autumn Victoria and Angelina Lucie. Both Isabella and Caleb are thrilled.
Year 2
Over the summer holidays, Isabella, Caleb, and their almost 1-year-old daughters go on a three week tour of Italy: Caleb had never been, and Isabella wanted the babies to meet her father and his family. Fun is had by all on the trip: Autumn and Angelina are coddled by many family members, and Isabella and Caleb take in the sights, especially The Vatican--as Caleb and Isabella were both practicing Catholics, they were honored to be able to visit such a holy place. Soon after they get back from Italy, Isabella finds out she is pregnant again!
Year 3
Leo Thomas Parker is born! Caleb and Isabella are overjoyed to have a son. Autumn and Angelina are at first a bit disappointed that they don't have a baby sister, but soon become quite fond of Leo, and love to sing to him and give him kisses.
Year 4
One day, Caleb comes home with disappointing news: due to conflicts he was having with his boss, he quit his mechanic job. Isabella is worried--Paris is an expensive city, and she's not sure they can keep their small house and feed and clothe three kids plus themselves on only her teacher's salary. Caleb, always resourceful, decides to start his own contracting firm: at first it is slow going, but by the end of the year he has a few workers and is making just as much money as he was with his old company.
Year 5
On a school field trip to a farm, Autumn and Angelina come home with a new idea--they want a pet pig! At first Caleb and Isabella scoff at the idea, telling them that pigs belong on farms and that they can come back again and visit them, but Isabella begins to do some research and learns that pigs are clean, clever animals that can thrive in a back yard. Caleb is still dubious, but after they take a trip back to the farm as a family, all of the Parkers fall in love with the runt of one of the sow's litters. They take her home, and Autumn and Angelina, after much arguing, decide to name her Lilou.
Year 6
Isabella becomes pregnant again, and gives birth to another boy, Paul Samuel. Leo's ecstatic to have a brother to play with.
Year 7
Just a year after Paul's birth, Isabella gets a devestating phone call: her older sister Pia and her husband had been in a terrible car accident and had been pronounced dead on arrival. In the event of their death, Isabella was named in their will as the legal guardian of their two daughters Carmela Alice, 6, and Alessia Mafalda, 3. It takes some adjusting, and it's hard on everyone, but soon Carmela and Alessia are thriving with their aunt, uncle, and cousins.
Year 8
Isabella is promoted to principal of the lycée she works at, as a result, she gets a hefty pay raise. Caleb and the kids are all very proud of her.
Year 9
Caleb, Isabella, and the kids go back to the US for the first time since they left for Paris to visit Caleb's family. Now that it has been nearly ten years since their son ran off with his math teacher, his parents and siblings are finally accepting of their relationship. They enjoy seeing their grandchildren again and meeting Carmela and Alessia, who become very fond of Caleb's parents.
Year 10
While taking Lilou to the vet, Isabella gets into a conversation with one of the women in the waiting room, who mentions that her cat has just had kittens and she is looking for good homes for them. Isabella has always been fond of cats, so she brings the family over to look at the kittens. The kids become attached to a sweet little black male with white paws and face, and they take him home that day and name him Napoleon. At first, Napoleon is terrified of Lilou, but soon they become fast friends, sometimes eating out of the same bowl!
Year 11
Due to taking some bad investment advice, Caleb's once-burgeoning contracting business goes under. Isabella is less worried about money now that her salary is much higher, but she is heartbroken to see her husband so upset--he had built this business up from the ground to watch it fall apart. Now in between jobs, Caleb has become Mr. Mom, driving the children to their various activities and cooking delicious dinners.
Year 12
Isabella is offered a position that pays double her current salary in Marseilles, a whopping seven hours south of France. Although they don't like that they have to uproot the children, both Isabella and Caleb are excited for a fresh start in a new city. The move goes by fairly smoothly, and though the kids are at first sad to leave their friends and school in Paris, they soon see the appeal of living five minutes away from the beach and adjust well to their new schools.
Year 13
The Parkers take a family holiday to Ibiza. All eight of them very much enjoy the beautiful beaches and balmy weather.
Year 14
The Parkers' neighbor, the elderly Madame Aubry, is in the hospital and not doing very well. When Isabella visits her, she meets her daughter, who tells her that they don't know what to do with Madame Aubry's little Yorkshire terrier Figaro. Isabella offers to foster the dog until they find him a home, but soon the entire family falls head over heels for the plucky little guy. With Madame Aubry's daughter's blessing, Figaro becomes an official member of the Parker family.
Year 15
Caleb and Isabella get a wonderful 15th anniversary present: Isabella's job gives her a huge bonus! It has been a very, very interesting 15 years for the Parker family.
