Ever since Crown Prince Friedrich's twenty-first birthday the search for a wife began and his parents gave him plenty of opportunities to meet princesses and other eligible young ladies from around the world. The queen and her husband both really wanted someone who didn't live too far away and Friedrich looked for a smart, intelligent and talented young lady who didn't "put on airs". He actually met Dagmar by accident the day before the royal ball and immediately hit it off before either one knew who the other was. Once they were officially introduced Friedrich couldn't help but continue the friendship and even secretly write to Dagmar after she had gone home. Ellinor has always maintained that a wife should be Friedrich's own choice and she was pleased but a bit surprised when he announced his intentions to the family. An official royal announcement in both countries will be made in the next few days and wedding preparations will be made. Ellinor and Christian are overjoyed! :)
