[Opinions] Jessica/Jesse
This is purely hypothetical, seeing as I'm only 19 and children are far off in the future, but my name is Jessica. I've become increasingly in love with the name Jesse for a boy, but would it be weird to name my hypothetical son something so similar to mine? I'm not trying to honor myself or anything, I just like the name. WDYT?

I wouldn't do it, because I think it might get confusing having two people in the house with such similar names. I think it would be lovely to use it as a mn though. Jesse is a fave of mine too, it's great.
It would be amazing.
Hey there! I was named Jessica back in '86. Common name, no?
I think that Jesse is spunky and tough and sweet all at once and would make a charming name for a son. I like the idea of a Jessica being a mother to a Jesse. Men pass on their surnames most of the time and have juniors enough to justify it - not that you need justification.
I actually legally changed my own name from Jessica to Jesse at the age of 18 and would definitely use Jesse as a middle name for a future son.

I think it's a little weird. I think a lot of people might see it as odd, but they'd get over it of course. Haha.
I love Jesse too. It's not weird for you to want to use it.
And what's so bad about honoring yourself? Men do it all the time. They have no problem with self-love. Women need more of that -- enough with the self-sacrifice nonsense. (How great will it be when the rest of my estrogen-self-sacrifice-inducing-hormones have left me? Say it with me: menapause is our friend.)
Jesse for a boy it is. :-D

They're far too close for my liking. I'd be too polite to say it, but I'd presume you'd named your son after yourself and I wouldn't exactly find it cute. It's basically the same reason I wouldn't name a son Alistair, even though I really like the name. Sure, Alisha and Alistair only share the "Al" sound when said aloud, but they share five letters: Alisha, Alistair.
You will just have to get used to people saying, "How cute. You named him after yourself," or asking if you named him after yourself.
