[Opinions] Anselm
I've been loooking through lists of Saints and Anselm comes up often. Plus the Saints pass our test - they did something. Wrote, church reform, that sort of thin. I really like it and am curious as to opinions.

I'm not so sure about this. I always thought it was just another stodgy old Germanic name, but now it's starting to grow on me and part of me thinks it's quite charming. It just might be that ever-elusive perfect MN for Franz that I've been looking for. Franz Anselm. Hmmm...

I really love Anselm, though I slightly prefer Ansel. It sounds so handsome and distinguished.

I find it awkward to pronounce in English... I just really want to go "AHn-sem" because it's closer to how I would say it in French. I hear it a lot because it's the church my grandparents go to :)I really like Ansel though!

It's a great name! I also like Ansel, but I think Anselm is more grown up, probably because it has more history.
Please use it! :) I doubt my dh will let me. I'm still trying to talk him into Edmund.

loveAnselm seems like such a nice-guy name. There is something so wholesome and hearty and organic about it. It makes me think of whittled things - simple things made by hand and from the heart. Thumbs up from me!

I have a special yen for obscure medieval saint names. Obscure to the general public, I mean. Here among namenerds the name is better known. I'd love to meet a little Anselm. It would make my day. :-) There's the more modern form of Ansel, but somehow that always strikes me as the more cowardly choice. If you're going to do a medieval saint, I say really go for that medieval saint. Seriously, Anselm is most handsome and I really would love to know that there's a new one running around the planet somewhere. We need more Anselms. P.S. I love the feminine forms too: Anselma and Selma.

I love Anselm! I think I'd rather use it as a middle name though. but I do really really love it.

I like reading Anselm a lot but I would not use it today. This a very traditional name and I respect it but it has really gone out of style. I can't see it coming back yet.
