[Opinions] Harlow
I've had the name Harlow on my mind today, and i wanted to know what your take on it was.1. Do you like this name? How much would you rate this name?
2. Do you prefer it on a girl or a boy?
3. What is your impression of this name?
4. Any combos you would like to share? (optional)
5. Any other comments?
6 (edit). Does this sound "melancholy" or "haunting" to you? I'm making a "haunting/melancholy/solemn" names list, and i am contemplating whether i should put this on there. (Because of the long o sound, this name sounds kind of melancholy to me)Thanks!

1. I like it. It used to be one of my favorites. I give it 8 out of 10.2. It definitely sounds masculine to me. I always had it on my boy's list.3. It's a very solid, dignified name, the kind of name I imagine some smart, respectable guy would've had back in the early 20th century.4. I suck at combos.5. None, sorry.6. Harlow doesn't sound melancholy to me, but I guess it is kind of solemn. I'd say serious, really.

1. This name is ok. I'd give it a solid 6.
2. I could see it on either gender
3. "street smarts" is the impression I get.
4. No combos here I'm afraid
5. No comments
6. I could see how this name could be seen as melancholy. Especially with the Jean Harlow connection and the idea of the death of a young beautiful woman. Harrow I think would be even more mournful-sounding, and a touch more unique than Harlow, which is starting to take on a bit of a trendy air.

1. Do you like this name? How much would you rate this name? Not so much. It reminds me of Harlot. I'd give it a 1.
2. Do you prefer it on a girl or a boy? Probably a boy.
3. What is your impression of this name? That is was chosen by people who are trying to be different, which is not very cool. It should come naturally without people trying so hard.
4. Any combos you would like to share? (optional) Not really.
5. Any other comments? It's pretty bad, sorry.
6 (edit). Does this sound "melancholy" or "haunting" to you? I'm making a "haunting/melancholy/solemn" names list, and i am contemplating whether i should put this on there. (Because of the long o sound, this name sounds kind of melancholy to me) Yeah, a little.

5. Any other comments? I used to listen to a radio drama in which there was a "Harlow Doyle, Private I." He was a bit of a bumbling goof, so that's an association I have with the name.

1. Do you like this name? No
How much would you rate this name? 3/10
2. Do you prefer it on a girl or a boy? Neither, but I'd expect it to be a girl.
3. What is your impression of this name?
Hollywood-superficial, trendy-spunky-boyish, reminds me of harlot much more than Charlotte does.I'm okay with Marlo as a nickname for names like Marlene and Marilyn, but Harlow to me says "Trying to borrow some glamor from Jean Harlow, and at the same time seem classy and tough because it's a surname; what's a harlot? Dunno that word" ... it's not that I don't like the sound of the name. I do, I like all of the sound. I just can't get past the strong associations enough to actually like it. If not for the associations and surname factor, I'd be all over it and give it like an 8.5!

1. Yes, I love the sound of it. However, I dislike the 'w' for some reason so I'd probably spell it differently. Harlo, maybe- although that looks a bit incomplete. I'd have to think about it. I'd rate it 7.5/102. Girl 100%3. It sounds like a very cool, indie-like name to me. I picture a unique, strong headed girl with a certain elegance and grace to her.4. Can't think of any, sorry.5. I do have to say, one thing that might hold me back is the strong association to Nicole Ritchie and Joel Madden's daughter. Nothing against her at all I just feel like that's all a lot of people would think about, making the name not seem as special.
