I really like the name Arden on a girl but I've started considering Ardenne as an alternative. It's been brought to my attention that Arden seems masculine and that Ardenne would be better on a girl.

However, although I like Ardenne, I'm not 100% sure how to pronounce it. Do you pronounce it the same as Arden? If not, how do you pronounce it?

Also if you want to give your opinion on these two names that would be great as well :-)

Yep

I say Arden AHR-den and Ardenne ar-DENN. If you want to use Arden on a girl, go ahead. It's no more masculine than Morgan, Taylor, and Jordan, and those get used on girls all the time.

I pronounce them differently. For Arden, I say AHR-den. For Ardenne, I say ahr-DEN.

I pronounce Ardenne as if it was Ardennes, and for that reason it's far too battlefield for me, since I haven't got a family connection to that place or campaign.

I saw Ardith once on a character in a kids' book, but I've always rather enjoyed it.

Arden = Arden (basically really fast and "run on-ish")

Ardenne = ar-DEN (emphasizing the ENding)

I'd pronounce Arden "ARE-den" ('harden' without the 'h') and Ardenne "are-DEN".

The Ardennes is a region of forest in France and Belgium.

I would pronounce them differently. Arden would have the emphasis on the first syllable, and Ardenne on the second. I like Ardenne but not Arden.

I pron. them differently. Arden is AR-din, much emphasis on the ARRR. Ardenne is ar-DEN, much emphasis on the DEN

I wouldn't pronounce Arden and Ardenne the same. Arden is "AR-din", and Ardenne is "ar-DENN" to me.

I think Arden is nice enough. I don't like Ardenne, though, sorry.

Ardenne is pronounced the same way as Arden.
I even like Ardennes better than Arden but I'd never use it because most people would pronounce the 's' at the end. If I ever have 3 girls the third one will be Angelia Ardenne.

Its like the name Adrian / Adrienne to me. I think the extra -ne looks more feminine and visually pleasing.

I stress Arden on the first, Ardenne on the second syllable. Other than that, I pronounce them the same.

I do, and Ardenne just looks overly frilly.

Just use Arden.
