I was going to use Teresa if my first baby had been a girl. He wasn't. So, I picture a female version of my son -- mid-30s, brown wavy hair, very blue eyes, very light skin, very thin. Narrow face, small features, nice looking.

I'm glad we didn't end up using Teresa, btw. That's because I pronounce it te-REE-sah, and dislike te-RAY-sah or te-RAY-zah. At the time, I didn't realize there were two or three ways to pronounce the name.

I consider the name timeless, although I can see why some would think it is dated. You never hear of a baby or child named Teresa. Well, at least I don't.

I've always liked it. I picture a girl in her late teens/early twenties, born around 1830, wearing a sea-green dress. She's very helpful, intelligent, and practical, and good at solving problems. (Doesn't make much sense, I know, but that's what I picture.) I'd consider it timeless and I wouldn't think it was too dated if I saw it on a baby today. I prefer the spelling Teresa, and I prefer it to Therese. For combos, I'm partial to a Scandinavian MN for it:

Sorry, not a big fan of this name!

I know a 3 yr old girl called Theresa. Before knowing her I would have said it was a little old fashioned (not a good way), but now I have a different take on it. It's pretty and I much prefer it over Therese. Also it depends how it is pronounced. I prefer it Te-RE-sa as opposed to the longer e pronounciation.
