Are you pronouncing it as THEE-ah (soft 'th')? I think it's quite pretty, I prefer it as a nn for Theodora, though. But I think it can definitely stand on its own. There is, however, a Canadian actress named Thea Gill who pronounces her fn as TAY-ah. It's pretty, but it would constantly get mispronounced imo.

I guess the problem for me is that I would assume it was a nick name for something.
Totally nms. Sounds Greek god-sey
I like it but I think I prefer it as a nickname.
I love it, always have.
Thea, or Theia, is The Titan goddess of sight and clear blue skies. She was the mother of the Sun, Moon and Dawn, in Greek mythology.
Beautiful, simple, classic name to me.

Just lookin at it I don't like it and having a friend Anthea that is an automatic assumtion that it should be short for somthing. Staring at it for a few minutes however deffinently makes it easier on the eyes. It is the sort of name that grows on you. I personally think it is missing something, the best thing I can think to call it is a solid syllable, but it is nice.
