It's my favourite girl-name of the moment. I shall have a Maud Alice Johanna, and call her Maudie.

When I was tiny, I had a Scottish honorary Aunt Maudie, sister to our then neighbour "Aunty" Gladys. Tall, long legs, blue-green eyes, sandy redhead. Inspiring? I think so!I also taught a Maud once, though she preferred to go by her traditional name which I'm afraid I forget. Good kid, full of energy.
