We are still in Newport, but heading out to somewhere in Europe soon (any ideas on which country?). Life with our new baby girl has been hectic, we haven't even been married a year!, but wonderful. I have had to work even more than usual to assure that I will get the right promotion so we can go abroad, but in the end it will be worth it. My sisters are so happy to have a little girl to dote on and don't want us to go.For the FN my favorite from your list is Liat (especially with our last name meaning flower. "You are my flower") For the MN I was thinking maybe something more Colonial since Rhode Island was one of the original colonies. Maybe:
Liat Annabel Blum
Liat Patience Blum
Liat Mercy Blum
Liat Susanna Blum
Liat Rebekah Blum
Liat Priscilla BlumI'd be fine with continuing the pictures if you wanted too.

It's a boy!!! He's so handsome, and you did so well Nicole! I couldn't be happier about my little son... I combined a list of all the names we said we liked so far, and i've marked which ones i like the most... Also love, how would you feel about using my name as our boys middle name? It's a bit of a tradition in my family to give the eldest son his Dad's name as a middle name... If you feel strongly against it though I won't press it...Dominic

He is handsome and he looks just like his daddy! I think it'd be lovely to name our son after you darling. I'm really glad you suggested it.I'm so glad we've got such similar tastes it means when we do choose a name for our son it'll be one we both love. I loved all of the names you suggested but felt these sounded best when said together.Kian Alastair Ferguson
Lucas Alastair Ferguson
I really really really like Noah Alastair but his initials would be NAF - which where I grew up meant that something wasn't very good or nice.
We could get around that by adding an extra middle name Noah Alastair James Ferguson sounds quite handsome or maybe Noah Alastair Craig Ferguson in honour of your mother?
Or we could use a name from the choices above?? I adore them all!
vote up1
I do agree that Noah Alastair was one of my favorite's as well, and am very open to your idea of having two middle names.Perhaps we could give him your Dad's name as a second middle name? Noah Alastair Charles Ferguson? Alternatively - out of the other two, I think I like Kian Alastair Ferguson best...
vote up1
Kian was my 2nd favourite too. I've been doing some thinking actually (dangerous I know!) I feel like if we start with giving 2 middle names I'll feel inclined to give any other children we have 2 middle names as well. I wouldn't mind but is it something you'd want to continue with? But anyway it looks like its between Noah Alastair Charles Ferguson (sounds rather distinguished doesn't it) and Kian Alastair Ferguson.I adore both so I'll leave the final decision with you.
vote up1
Such a hard decision!I do agree with you that if we give our little boy two middle names that that would be a pattern that we would have to continue with our future kids. If I was going to be honest love, i'm not sure that that is worth it just to use Noah when we both love the name Kian as well... It is a shame that Noah made such terrible initials, but we could always save it for another boy, if we have one, and use a different middle name to solve that problem (Noah Charles is nice!).So for our wee man this time i'm leaning toward Kian Alastair Ferguson... agreed?

Approx. spacing preference: 2+ yearsSo, husband mine, we have a baby girl! I must say, I couldn't help hoping we would have a girl first. She's absolutely beautiful, isn't she? Now we just have to name her! I know your family has a tradition for boys (which mine has the same one, isn't that funny?), but does it have one for girls? There aren't any in my family for girls, but I'd be happy to consider any your family has. Just a few preferences of mine: I tend to like old-fashioned or long names and to shy away from names that are in the top ten or fifteen in popularity. The only exception is the name Lily, which I adore no matter what number it's at. It's my favorite girl's name and I've love to use it, even if it's a nickname for something more elaborate, like Lilias or Lilia. Some of my favorite names besides Lily are:Arianna
Magdalena
Violet
Samantha
Irene
Callista (with Callie for a nickname)
Rose and most variations (Rosalind, Rosaleen, Rosa, etc)
Jessamine
Mathilde (also would consider Matilda)
Bridget
Alexandra (not really a fan of many variations, like nicknames Alex and Sasha)
Nora
Sara
I could name a lot more, but let me know what you think!
vote up1
I totally agree with you, she is beautiful, just like her mother! There isn't any tradition for girls in my family either and I'm not really sure what I would call me name style. I like a bunch of names and for some reason I tend to like names with a nickname. From your list I like Lily, Ariana (this spelling), Jessamine, Nora, Mathilde, Matilda, Rose and some other Rose names (Rosalind, Rosaline, Rosalie). Some names I like:
Isabella
Ophelia
Theodora
Sienna
Philippa
Elisabeth
Zara
Persephone
Seraphina
Noelle
Alice
Jocelyn
Freya
Noa
MollyAnd I might like Lilia nn Lily, not sure about that one yet.

From your list I like Theodora, Sienna, Elisabeth, Sara, Seraphina, Noelle, Alice, Jocelyn, Noa, and Molly. Freya definately might grow on me, and Persephone too. I like Isabella, but it's so common right now, two of our friends have daughters named that! How do you feel about Lily as a first name? Some combinations with your names I like areLily Alice
Lily Noa
Lily Theodora
Lily Freya (definately could learn to love it in this combination!)
Lily SeraphinaWhat do you think?
vote up1
I'm not 100% sure about Lily as a first name, it is a little short for my taste. But I know how much you love it so I'll accept Lily as a first name. I liked Lily Seraphina quite a lot! Does that sound good for you? :)

Lily Seraphina is beautiful, and if you have a longer version you like better I'm certainly open to it.

I like Lilia nn Lily too, but I think I actually prefer Lily Seraphina.
So I guess our baby girl is Lily Seraphina!

A beautiful name for out beautiful girl! You can choose the FN for the next baby. Story-wise, I found out I was pregnant on a Saturday while my sisters and their kids were visiting. I had suspected for a while, but I hadn't done anything. My sister Rachel convinced me to take a pregnancy test, and it was positive! We were all so excited, and all my siblings and my parents came up to be there when she was born, and so did yours. We had a lot of fun with the nursery and all that, but nothing topped holding Lily in our arms for the first time. The pregnancy and birth were perfectly normal, and Lily was perfectly healthy, born only a few days before her due date. She had a head of dark hair and dark blue eyes, and I think she looks a lot like her daddy! I'm fortunate enough to have an understanding boss who lets me work from home most of the time, only going to the office for meetings and such, so I get to spend plenty of time with her. Here's a picture of her:http://marketplace.veer.com/stock-photo/Baby-on-white-1304378?slot=40&pg=1

Of course, our first is a boy! Well, I'll make a list of names that I like:Abram/Abrams, Benton, Norman, Stuart, Walden, Warner, Niles, Francis (honors my father, grandfather, etc., and brother), James, Theodore, Frederick, Oliver, George, Booker, Napoleon, Damian, Adrian, Sebastian, Albert, Henry, Arthur, Louis (prn. loo-EE), Robert, Richard, Peter, Marius, Lawrence/Laurence

Out of your list I love:
James, Theodore, Frederick, Oliver, Sebastian, Henry, Arthur and Peter
And I like:
Abram/Abrams, Francis, George, Damian and AdrianI also like:
Jonathan, Edgar, William, Nicholas, Daniel, Benjamin, Gabriel, Roger, Edmund, Victor and Vincent.
vote up1
Of your list, I love Edmund, Nicholas, and William. However, Edmund sounds odd with our last name (to me, anyway), and Nicholas and William were already used as first names in your family. Admittedly, we could use different nicknames...I like: Jonathan, Edgar, Benjamin, Gabriel, and Roger.
I know you've said that you didn't like Abram/Abrams, but how about using one of your names as a first name and using Abram/Abrams as a middle name? Some suggestions:Nicholas Abram Talbot 'Cole' or 'Colin'
Jonathan Abram/Abrams Talbot
Edgar Abram/Abrams Talbot
Benjamin Abram/Abrams Talbot
Roger Abram/Abrams Talbot
vote up1
I like Jonathan Abrams and Benjamin Abram is nice.I also like Theodore Abram/Abrams Talbot, maybe we could call him 'Theo'.
vote up1
Theodore Abrams Talbot 'Theo' sounds good to me, but I worry about the initials...Which, now that I think about it, means that Roger Abram/Abrams Talbot is definitely out.I'm equally satisfied with either Jonathan Abrams Talbot or Benjamin Abram Talbot. If you'd like, we can keep looking for a name for our son, but if not, then you can choose between these three (Theodore A., Jonathan A., or Benjamin A.).
vote up1
I don't think the initials are too bad, the only thing that springs to mind for me is the phrase 'Tit for tat' and most children won't even know that. So, Theo it is.
