I didn't notice
Elizabeth at the end of E.Tracy's post, and yes I intended for one parent to still be alive. I'm totally fine with playing with historical facts, and I really like RowenaRavenclaw's story. Sounds like poor
Adelheid, like most teenage girls, is trying very hard not to be forgotten and dismissed.
As for
Magdalena, she has a rebellious streak which made it important for her to go her own way and do what was good for her rather than just what was good for Bial. She was doted upon by her parents and older brother when she was born because, with such a large gap between her and her brother, they assumed they would have no more children, at least not for a while.
She and
Walter have always had a close relationship despite their age difference, and the two value one another's advice and companionship. The two have always understood one another.
Magdalena was excited when
Adelheid was born as she had wanted a sister and the two were friends as children, but as they grew older they grew apart.
Adelheid thought
Magdalena was selfish for not thinking of her duty to Bial first the way she and
Walter did, while
Magdalena found it hard to stop treating
Adelheid like a baby. This, along with the fights typical between teenage sisters, only worsened
Adelheid's feelings of rejction.
As for
Joseph, he is the type who has never really let anyone be really close to him. Everyone jokes that they are so close in age he's practically
Magdalena's twin, but really the two have never had the type of sibling bond that she and
Walter or even she and
Adelheid had as children.
