Just started a story about a young family so far I have a father named Holland (20) and mum named Jade (19) and their infant daughter Layla. Then there's the friend Esme.

I think they're nice but I prefer Hollis, Jade, Layla, and Esme over Holland, Jade, Layla, and Esme.

Holland is horrid, sorry.

I like Jade, even though it's a bit trashy.

I LOVE Layla spelled Leila.

I hate Esme, sorry.

Holland is a country, not a name. I live in Holland myself, so I don't particularly fancy the name as a first name.

For some reason, I don't think Holland and Jade would have a daughter named Layla. I can't explain why, it's just a gut feeling. Layla doesn't seem exotic enough, perhaps? Maybe Bronwen, Calla, Saffron, etc? Esme is fine for a character name.

Off topic: My email server has been down for about three days, so if you responded to my last email, I didn't receive it!

Holland hates his name so he says they have to name Layla something normal. That's why I went more common on her name than the others.

I don't think I've replied yet. I'll look over the last e-mail and see if I remember responding..hehe. Either way, I'll be e-mailing you.

They're all great for a story, imo. I don't care for Holland on a person and greatly dislike for Jade for some odd reason. But I have recently come to love Layla (and most of its various spellings) and I also love Esme. Quite nice.

I like Holland on a boy
Jade is gorgeous jewelry and an equally gorgeous name
Layla- I prefer the sp. Leila but it is beautiful esp to say
Esme-very cool

I would use Lelia, Jade and Esme on children too.

I actually like Holland, which is strange: I have never liked place names on people. Layla is also nice, but I prefer it spelled Leila.

Jade is not a favourite but it is great for a character if you want her to have an average name IMHO. Esme is a good choice.

Holland and Jade make a good couple and Layla is a cute name. Esme also rocks!
