Year 1:
Christine and Billy Joe get married with great fanfare--the local news in Nome even covers their very traditional church wedding. Over the course of the year, Christine gets very close with one of her eighth-graders, Sarah, who writes beautiful poetry. She reveals to Christine that her home life is very unstable and that she was raped by one of her older brother's friends and is terrified that she is pregnant. When it turns out that this is so, Sarah begs Christine to adopt her baby. Christine at first fears that she is crossing the line with Sarah, but after Sarah's parents contact her and she talks it over with her husband, they decide that this would be a wonderful idea. Their joy is compounded when they discover that Sarah is having twins, though the doctors are worried that the stress of gestating two babies will wreak havoc on her small frame. Sarah has a difficult pregnancy and goes into labor at 34 weeks, giving birth to two small, though healthy boys, who Christine and Billy name Owen Forrest and Conor Louis. The boys spend a tense week in the NICU, but they are released with a clean bill of health.
Year 2:
One day while touring some horse farms with her husband, Christine sees a palomino pony out in a pasture that reminds her very much of the pony she had growing up. She inquires about the pony to the owner of the farm, who tells her that his name is Trigger after the Lone Ranger's famous mount, reliable and sound, and most importantly, on sale. Billy Joe is dubious at first, mentioning that a pony and one-year-old twins will be a handful, but Christine convinces him, pointing out that they have more than enough land for the pony to graze on, that they could easily build a small shelter for him to live in, and that Owen and Conor would have great fun riding a pony when they're older. Billy Joe relents, and Christine buys Trigger.
Year 3:
Just a few months after Trigger joins the Brady family, Christine finds out that there will be another addition! When Billy Joe and Christine find out that they are having a little girl, they are even more excited. When Olivia Rose Brady is born, Christine decides to take a hiatus from teaching and become a full-time stay-at-home mom, having regretted missing key moments in her boys' infancies due to she and her husband both working. Owen and Conor both adore their baby sister.
Year 4:
Unfortunately, Billy Joe loses his re-election campaign for the Nome mayor seat. He goes back to practicing law at the small firm in Nome that he worked at before he and Christine were married.
Year 5:
Since their pre-school class has a guinea pig, Owen and Conor have been relentlessly begging their parents for one of their own. For their 4th birthday, Christine and Billy Joe surprise their sons with two guinea pigs--the boys name them Mimi and Ruby. Soon after, Christine finds out she is pregnant again.
Year 6:
Christine is induced and gives birth to her fourth child and third son, Garrett James Brady. All three Brady kids are smitten, but Owen and Conor are especially pleased to have a younger brother.
Year 7:
Only a few months after Garrett is born, Christine unexpectedly finds herself pregnant again. She gives birth to another boy, Reid Charles, who was breech and delivered by C-Section.
Year 8:
A year after baby Reid is born, Billy Joe is offered a job at a prestigious law firm in Arlington, VA. Christine and the kids are excited for the move, but the suburban atmosphere and the cross-continent move proves impossible for them to bring Trigger, so they reluctantly sell him to a wonderful family, who promise to let the children visit whenever they come back to Alaska, which comforts the children. After a few months in Virginia, the family adjusts beautifully.
Year 9:
The Brady family takes a trip to Disney World. Everyone has a fantastic time. Unfortunately, Ruby dies while they are away. The twins are heartbroken, especially since both of their guinea pigs survived the plane ride to Virginia.
Year 10:
Billy Joe gets a large pay raise. With her still staying at home, a much higher cost of living, and five kids, Christine is very grateful for this. Mimi dies, having not been the same since her sister passed away.
Year 11:
Billy Joe gets another pay raise. They renovate their house.
Year 12:
The family takes a trip to Quebec, where Christine's mother is from. The Bradys enjoy soaking in the sights and culture.
Year 13:
For the second time, Christine finds herself unexpectedly pregnant. She has a VBAC and gives birth to her second daughter, Grace Anika. Olivia is overjoyed to finally have a sister.
Year 14:
A year after Grace is born, the family takes a trip to New York City. A grand time is had by all.
Year 15:
For their 15th anniversary, Billy Joe and Christine take the trip of a lifetime--their first stop is back to Alaska, where the kids visit their grandparents and Trigger the pony, who is very happy to see them. From Alaska, with the kids safe with Grandma and Grandpa, Billy Joe and Christine head to Europe, where they spend time in France, Germany, and Italy. It has been an eventful 15 years for the Brady family!
