Help[Opinions] Dutch Names
I'd like to add more Dutch names to my PNL in honor of DHs paternal heritage but there are so many names, I don't know where to start.
What are your favorite Dutch names? Are they usable outside of the Netherlands, by that I mean would they be too complicated for the average Canadian to understand/pronounce?

I really like the name Lieven. I'm pretty sure it would be easy enough to pronounce: "lee-vin." Spelling might be a bit harder, but not that bad.

I saw that on the BTN list of Dutch names and I like it too but when I brought it up to DH he made a snotty comment about the MN being Conditioner. What a jerk lol

I don't know many either. Off the top of my head I love: Anouk, Femke, Aloisia, Saskia, Nicolaas, Hieronymus (or is that Latin?), Bram, Gerrit. Schyler is also Dutch, but it's been butchered so much here in the U.S. spelling and gender-wise that I've given up on it.
Have you gone through the Dutch names here at behindthename.com? If you go to the home page you'll see a section that lists names by origin. If Dutch names aren't on the home page, just click the link to get many more lists. I'll go there now and see what I think would be useable.
ETA: OK. So that was fun. There are so many names that I love over there in the Dutch names section. But many are exactly the same as the English form. So I've left those off. Here are some (hopefully obvious) Dutch names that are useable and fun:
Adelheid / Alida / Elke
Amalia (nn Molly?)
Anneke
Anneliese
Brigitta (hard "g" sound)
Carola
Evelien
Filomena
Gilberta
Gisela (hard "g" sound)
Hedy
Ilse / Liesbeth
Jacintha -- I never knew this was exclusively Dutch!
Jacomina -- feminine form of Jacob / James, nn Mina?
Jana
Jolanda
Karin
Magdalena

I like Nicolaas too (it's DHs name) he hates that people never pronounce it correctly.

Merel - it's the dutch word for a bird, I don't remember which one, but it is used as a name in the Netherlands.
