I like River for a girl, in no small part because a few TV characters I like have worn it ;)Of your combos, I like River Mae. I like the simplicity.Like it for a boy, too.

Not a fan of it on a girl but I liked the way River Mae and River Gemma sounded.

I like it on both, but I'd only use it on a girl :)River Charlotte and River Louisa are great! River Gabrielle and River Caitlin are good too.

I think it suits either sex fine. However, I think it sounds more bright and dynamic on a boy, and more melancholy and dramatic on a girl. Like, the masculine aspects of the idea "river" are namier than the feminine ones. If that makes any sense.

I don't like it on a girl. River is very masculine to me, probably because I think of River Phoenix when I hear it.

Yeah, why not. I think it could work. I do think it's better for a boy but I don't feel like it would be odd for a girl to be named River. It's a nature name and they're pretty unisex in my opinion.

I love River on a boy. But I would probably cry if I saw it on a girl.

I never really like word names, but your combos do have a nice sound to them.

I like River Mae and River Emilie :)On doctor who there is a character who is his future wife called River Song....although it sounds a bit too fairytale to me :) point is, I've seen it on a girl before :D

I really am liking it too. River isn't gender specific if you ask me. River Charlotte really stood out to me. River Noelle really flows too.

I'm used to seeing River on a boy but I don't see why it can't be used for either sex.I like River Charlotte, River Louisa add River Gabrielle best.

I perceive the name as unisex, and love it on either girl.I probably won't use it myself, as I tend to go with names with very long histories or with meanings (meanings other than "itself"). BUT, of the modern, nature-oriented, picturesque names, this is my very favorite.
