[Opinions] Darla
For years and years I hated this name; it sounded too precious, too dated, too made-up... but for some reason I'm beginning to love it.Is it in that category of so-precious-they-almost-work names, like Lola, Lulu, Zuzu, Fritzi etc.? Or should Darla just stay playing canasta with Verla, Marla and Darlene?

Me too. But I think that's why I like it. She was so adorable & sweet in the movie (90's movie; never saw the original show). But the name itself isn't cutesy cutesy to me, like Lulu, etc.
I think it could definitely work today. It was never really popular so I don't see it as dated like Velma & such. Plus even though D-names aren't that popular right now, -la names are. (Kayla, Jayla, Isabella)

Oh, I love Darla! It's always been a guilty pleasure of mine. I don't think I would ever have the guts to use it in real life but I think it's precious. And even though it IS of course way out of style it doesn't sound "elderly" in my eyes. I think it's more in line with Lola, Lulu, etc...than the others.

She is playing canasta with Verla, Marla, Darlene and the rest of the crew.

Darla is one of my guilty pleasures! It would, naturally, be darling on a little girl, but I'm not sure if it ages well. Actually, now that I think about it, I would be delighted if I met an old lady named Darla. It works!

I think it could work, actually. It brings to mind the character from Angel but other than that...yah. It's cute.

I think it's very dated.

Darla doesn't sound precious at all, but it is dated. I don't like it that much.
