Help[Games] Kingdom Congrats Round 4
Four long years went by without interruption by royal birth or any overt scandel to talk of--at least nothing definate. There were rumors, of course, that the Princess Magdalena and her husband the Venetian Duke/Prince were not at court as often as they were used to, performing most of her duties as princess from her estate, and that the king was distracted, and that Prince Joseph was said to be spending all his time with his family and neglecting his duties as prince. It was rumored that the drunken Duke of Bergfalk had fallen out of favor with the king as well, and that he was often sent away from the palace in disgrace for various reasons (it was said he tried to force himself on a woman of the royal circle, sometimes said to be Princess Magdalena or even the good Queen herself!) Only Princess Adelheid, far away in France, was not talked of, except with the usual pity. She was becoming quite the tragic figure, the princess married off as a child to the hideous and much-older Dauphin. People who heard of it were glad when the king decided to send Princess Magdalena and Prince Joseph to France as envoys; most thought he was merely doing it out of kindness, giving his youngest sister the company of family for a while. Some, however, said it was a gesture to once again keep the French pacified, and that there had been threats of war again. Of all the rumors flying about, no one is really sure what to believe, and the ordinary folk don't much care as long as they do not feel the effects. There was the usual celebration when the royal family all produced children again, two of them havign twins, showing that the rumors still have not truly damaged the image of the royal family.

Sasha and Stasya felt that it was time to get Arina a job as a maid somewhere, and luckily for them, she was hired on at the Kaarman household (the king and queen) as one of the maids for their new daughter. Arina loves babies (and she's gotten to know many because of her siblings, so she is very excited with her new job.

It has been four years since I gave birth to mon petit william, my husband and I had tried unsuccessfully for 3 years to conceive another child and we had almost given up hope. Then it happened and I was once again expecting. The pregnancy was more complicated than with my other 3 children, so much so that William had arranged for an English physician to see to my wellbeing . I was confined to my bedchamber for the last 2 months of the pregnancy which seemed to make time go much slower. Finally my waters broke and after a long arduous labour I gave birth to twins, a son and daughter. The babies are rather small though and I worry constantly for their health they seem however to be healthy and I pray this remains so.
Louisa is now 7 and is every inch the image of me, she is a very bright and loves to learn. She is a keen horserider and her papa takes her out with him often to ride through the countryside. He is very fond of the little girl and spoils her immensely. Caroline is 5 now and is much quieter than her elder sister, she also loves to learn and as quite an aptitude for languages, she is of course fluent in English and French, and does very well in Greek, Latin and Italian.

Four years passed without many goings-on in Bial. There were, of course, the ever-present rumors of scandal and intrigue in the royal court, but Diederich paid no mind to such things. After all, it was not his place to pass judgement on his ruling sovereign. In fact, he preferred to stay quiet, so that he could fly under the radar and finally spend some time with his wife and children. His oldest, Josef, already looked well on his way to following in the von Falkenrath military tradition, riding his horse with incredible skill and begging his father to teach him to use a sword. Diederich's younger son, Mattias, seemed to have more of a mind for politics; he was often seen accompanying his father to state functions and was known to make remarkably insightful comments, even for a boy his age. Philippa, meanwhile, showed an interest in just about everything, and her precocious questions endeared her to anyone she met.
Diederich and Johanna's life was not all smooth sailing, however. When Philippa was two, Johanna became pregnant again but miscarried just a few months later. That same week, with the specter of renewed war with France looming, Diederich was sent to train new troops. The inexperienced recruits were a bit too eager, and Diederich was injured during a routine drill. It was nothing life-threatening, but it warranted a return home and several months' recuperation. Not that Diederich was complaining, however: soon enough, he and Johanna were expecting another child. They walked on eggshells during the entire pregnancy, the thought of what had happened before still fresh in their minds. Fortunately, Johanna carried to term without complications, though she delivered earlier than expected. The reason soon became apparent: twins! Cecilia and Gisela were welcomed with much fanfare in the von Falkenrath household, and though Diederich would have liked another son, he is relieved that his newborn girls are healthy.

Elma was pregnant with her fourth child when an unexpected news reached her: her position at the palace was to be replaced. The chief dressmaker had decided that Elma's performance had deteriorated since she became "distracted" with her children. Elma was shocked with the news - what should she do now that she and Severin are no longer needed at court? Reluctantly and with great uncertainty, the Lehrer family left to find a new beginning.
Soon after they moved into a modest house at the capital, Elma gave birth to another daughter, Maike. She was again busied with the baby and could not sew, and Severin had to struggle to put bread on the table. But it was that hardship that brought the family closer; with Elma usually exhausted and Severin busy, Theodor started to assume care over his sisters. Even Franziska would help watch over her younger siblings. Severin and Elma were grateful for their children, and despite all the hardships, kept their faith that all will end well.

After Friedrich’s birth, Eleonore was nervous for awhile. She knew that Friedrich’s parentage was known to Walter and to his sister, Princess Magdalena (and probably more…), and a part of her was waiting for Heinrich to realize as well. As those first few weeks after Friedrich’s birth were very trying due to this emotional stress, but as time went on and nothing happened, Eleonore allowed herself to relax. Heinrich left her alone for the most part and she filled her days with raising beautiful children. Heinrich was so happy to finally have a son that a part of Eleonore was almost sad for him that Friedrich wasn’t actually his… but then she’d she the disdain with which he treated Valeria and Amelie, daughters who were his own flesh and blood, and any pity she felt passed swiftly.
Friedrich was a few months old when a messenger arrived at the Bergfalk estate. The King had returned from his visit with his sister in France and was requesting an audience with Heinrich. Eleonore’s nerves returned ten-fold as she wondered over and over in her mind for what reason Walter would request an audience with Heinrich. After Friedrich’s birth, Eleonore had sent word to Walter that she had birthed his son, but she had not spoken nor heard from him since. She began to wonder if perhaps Walter intended on telling Heinrich the truth and taking his son from her to be raised as the prince his blood made him. Heinrich was furious at the summons, but refusing to go was not an option and, as stubborn and brutish as he could be, Heinrich knew that full well. A week later, Heinrich and Eleonore made their way to the palace with Valeria, Amelie and baby Friedrich. The elder girls were excited to be going to see their cousins, but Heinrich and Eleonore were silent for the whole trip, him out of anger and she because of nerves.

The last four years have been difficult for the von Saxewald family. After Odila's birth Adelmar had slipped into a deep depression, bought on by the events that had recently unfolded in his life. He had decided to take a short hunting trip in the Eastern Mountains, in the hopes of lifting his spirits, which ended up lasting two whole years.
While Adelmar would send letters on occassion to his family, Swanahilda was essentially abandoned and left to run the affairs on their county. She proved to be an able administrator and slowly bought their finances back to a stable and strong level after all the money they had to spend "charitably" on the avalanche victims.
Also while Adelmar was away Swanahilda did something she never believed she would... she conducted an affair, albeit short lived but passionate. The Swanahilda's lover was a young travelling poet named Glauco Abandonato. His poems on forbidden love excited Swanahilda and soon they because involved. After a few months the excitement faded and Swanahilda realised, that while she might not love her husband she had a duty to perform as a wife, so she called off the affair and wrote to Adelmar, urging him to return to his family.
