[Opinions] Tobie
My daughter's name is Tobie, this caused an uproar in my family to the tune of 'that's a boys name!'. I frequently correct them but just wondered if anybody knows of any other girls called Tobie so I can really rub their noses in it!!
Happy New Year!!

There was a series of teen novels in the 40s-50s by an author named Rosamund DuJardin, and the books are about a girl named Tobey Haydon. I think it's a nn for something though, I can't remember now.

Well to me it is a boys name, a boys name that is occassionally used for girls, When a large number of girls start being called Tobie / Toby then it becomes a unisex name There are woman called Tobie on these sites

Why do YOU think it is a girl's name?Obviously you consider Tobie a girl's name, so just tell them the reason. But I am sure that there are more male Tobys than female Tobys/Tobies.Or you can say it is the trendy and popular thing to give girl's boy's names, so she will fit right in. Whatever you say, they will probably still THINK it is a boyish name. But it would be wise of them not saying it to you, since you've already named her that."But it’s all right now.

Actually, any name could be a girl's name, I suppose. But I don't think every name SHOULD be a girl's name. It may not be long before we have to endure seeing little girls running about named Jacob, Anthony and Zack!~Heather~

How do you mean "correct them"? It is (also) a boys name.

The only female Toby of whom I'm aware is the daughter of plus sized model, Emme._____

Sorry, I've never met or heard of a girl named Tobie. Also, this spelling is different for me, too. I've only seen it spelled Toby and Tobey.

Me neitherAnd it makes me sad that the whole point of this post is so that she can "rub their noses in it." Boy, that's the family spirit.

I've heard of one or two female Toby / Tobi's, usually in their 20's.
