One of my math teacher's other classes has a Mykealla and Mikala (or maybe it was Mikalah). As in mih-kee-AH-luh and mee-KAH-luh. Sorry parents, but those do not say "mi-KAY-luh"!!!

I don't like it, looks like they are trying to hard to be exotic. My favorite spelling is Micaela, which was the name of a friend from high school. She goes by Micci though.

Actually, Mikaela with one L is a legit spelling (it's the Scandinavian spelling). Mikaella with two Ls is a little much, though.I'm not keen on Michaela due to the constant misspellings. I prefer the Italian form Michelina.

Actually, I tihnk it's better than most of the spellings. But that might just be me though since Iäm used ti the Swedish spelling Mikaela, and adding an extra L doesn't chage the name that much. But I still prefer Mikaela.

Yes, I can see how that would be true. I didn't think of it that way at all. When I saw this Spelling I originally thought they named her a double fn of Mika-Ella I suppose that's why I didn't like it much. If I had done a bit more researching, i would have probably found that this isn't so out there afterall!

Why can't people just spell it Michaela? Why?!

You're right...I see Mikayla a lot --or Makayla -- among other spellings. Never seen Mikaella before. The only spelling of the name I like is Michaela. I like it because my dad's name is Michael and would be a nice nod to him. But with McKenzie, Mikayla, and McKenna all over the place it isn't truly usable to me anymore. :(I've also heard of Mikelle...which I still kind of like. It's another nice nod to Michael.

I hear you because I used to really like Michaela. With all of the spelling variations, I think I'm permanently turned off. When Anna was born, there was another couple at church who also had a baby girl named Michaela. Her dad was Michael so I assumed this was the correct spelling. Several months later after talking to the mom, I discovered that the baby's name was Makayla and that the parents had no clue that it was even connected to Michael at all! Grrr ...

Oh no! They probably thought it was such a great added bonus when they found out. A woman I work with, Michele and her husband Michael named thier daughter Mikayla, which I thought was funny because I am wondering what they'll name any future kids!! hahaha

Unfortunately they probably assumed it was a variant of Kayla o.0

There are so many variation out there that I actually thought it was a variant of Kayla before I came here... *dodges tomatoes* The first time I saw the actual Michaela spelling in real life I was trying to figure out how to pronounce "Michael" with an a on the end before I realized what name it was... lol

Every once in a while, when a name gets destroyed by multiple ridiculous spellings, I count my blessings if it's one I don't like anyway! :o) My sympathies to you.
