[Opinions] Mallory & Valerie
The family and I were at Chic-Fil-A last night and there was a set of twin girls there named Natalie and Mallory. My husband really likes the name Natalie but Mallory really jumped out at me for some reason. I don't know that it really "goes" with our other two daughter's names (Karis and Shiloh) but I'm not one to totally obsess over that kind of thing (I don't even think Karis and Shiloh go THAT well together, I just loved both the names so I used them). So, what are your opinions on the name Mallory? What other spellings (if any) do you prefer? What middle names (non-filler, i.e. Marie, Lynn, etc) go well with it?I've also been liking the name Valerie but my cousin's name is Valerie so I don't know if I should even consider it since she's such a close family member. I wouldn't be using it to "honor" her, I just like the name, so would that be awkward? Thanks!

I like the sound of Malory, and I prefer the single-L spelling, like Sir Thomas. It's a surname-name so I'm not mad about it, but it's better than most. For a mn, not knowing your surname is a problem. Maybe Noreen; Ellen; Joan; Suzanne; Valmae; Barbara.

I think Mallory is the best spelling of the name and that yes, it does go with Karis and Shiloh. Karis, Shiloh and Mallory. That fits. :)
I'm not a fan of the name myself, but it wouldn't be bad on someone else's kid. And if you call a kid after a close family member, but it wasn't intended to honor them, that sounds slightly awkward to me. I think you should use Mallory. :)
What about:
Mallory Elisabeth
Mallory Adele
Mallory Violet
Mallory Quinn
Mallory Sage
Mallory Sophia:)

Mallory is kind of GP for me, I'm not sure why. I guess I'm secretly afraid it's borderline trendy or something. I like it, mostly because my BF said something about liking it once or twice.Valerie makes me think of "valley girl" for some reason. I would never use it because I have had people mistakenly call me Valerie. (does it really sound that similar to Natalie?) As for using it despite a close family member having the same name.... well, I guess it woudl be a bit akward, but if you like the name a lot, then I'd say go for it.
