I love Gertrude! My favorite nicknames are Trudy & Tru :)

Gertrude is a hulking mammoth of a name. I keep picturing a large, maternal type of woman when I hear it.

Gertie is cute, but I'm not as big a fan of Trudy.

I'm not crazy about it. My cat's name is Gertrude but we exclusively call her Rudy :)

(She was named so because her and her siblings were given tentative family names while they waited for adoption at my parents house... I never really liked the name Gertrude, Gertie or Trudy though so I started calling her Rudy. The name stuck and when I decided to bring her home nothing else seemed to fit)

It's okay, though not really my style. I kinda like Trudy as a NN for it.

I absolutely adore Gertrude and consider it a divinely beautiful, feminine, and strong name.

I am fond of Gertrude. I find her spunky and bold, like a tomboy who can still feel comfortable in frills and lace. Gertrude is an underused treasure and I would be delighted to meet a sassy little Gertrude. I love the nn Gertie more than I do Trudy. I also like the spanish version of Gertrude, Gertrudis prn Hair true dees nn Trudis or True.
