I love Andromeda. But I also think Anne or Anna are sweet names all on their own. Very classic and would age very well. I wouldn't use a long name just because others don't like the short version, unless you love the long name as much as the short version. However, if you love Andromeda, I think it's completely usable even by astronomy geeks and gives the child other nns other than Anne too. I'm a plant geek and I named my child Linnea, but most people not into plants don't make the connection, they just think Linnea is pretty. Andromeda is a plant too. BTW.
