After the first question, I thought "Andromeda Strain". I think it was a movie that was out when I was a small kid but the sounds of it stuck with me and it's always what I think of when I hear the name. I know, weird, right?
Then I read your 2nd question and thought... hmmmm.... I suppose that Anne is plain but it's definitely nice and there aren't many Anne's being born these days so it will probably be refreshing to hear of an Anne. However, I wuld probably use Anne as a nn for something because I just prefer names that you can give nns for.
By the time I read your 3rd paragraph, I decided that Andromeda is definitely a better fit for you than Anne is. Firstly, Anastasia, mother of Andromeda is just beyond romantic and wonderful sounding! Secondly, Andromeda has a cultural meaning for you, which makes it very appropriate and amplifies how lovey the name is.
In conclusion, Andromeda would be stunning! I think you should go with it!
