[Opinions] Arwen or Eowyn?
I know these are both LOTR names and it would be totally geeky of us to name a daughter after a LOTR character but I don't care, they're gorgeous names. :) Which would you prefer to use, and what middle name would you pair it with? Some ideas of mine:Eowyn Lyra
Arwen Gwendolen

For non-LotR people, Eowyn would have serious pronunciation issues, and for me that -wyn is a problem - in my part of Middle Earth it's masculine!Arwen, then, though I prefer Annwen.Arwen Gwendolen is too much -wen for one combo.Arwen Rosemary
Arwen Philippa
Arwen Solange

They're both pretty, but I prefer Arwen. Eowyn doesn't roll off of the tongue quite as smoothly. As for your combos, I like Eowyn Lyra. I like Gwendolen, but I'd prefer a name that didn't end in -en as a middle name for Arwen.Other combos:Eowyn Fleur
Eowyn Veronica
Eowyn Victoria
Eowyn Giselle
Eowyn Laurel
Eowyn Mira
Eowyn Vera
Eowyn Cassia
Eowyn Kerensa
Eowyn Clara
Eowyn Tabitha
Eowyn Stella
Eowyn Stelara
Eowyn JudithArwen Lyra - I really like this.

Hehe, I'd totally use Arwen! Eowyn seems more adventurous to me for some reason, and I'm a lot less likely to use that one (although Eowyn was a lot cooler than Arwen as a namesake...) Anyway, I love both your combos. Some others: Eowyn Christabel, Arwen Oriane, Eowyn Hermione, Arwen Epona, Eowyn River, Arwen Rhian, Eowyn Anna, Arwen Silvana, Eowyn Morrigan, Arwen Rohana, Eowyn Cassandra, Arwen Cordelia, Eowyn Artemis, Arwen Isolde, Eowyn Cressida, Arwen Undine, Eowyn Lorelei, Arwen Isaidora, Eowyn Moira, Arwen Louisa, Eowyn Iris, Arwen Jessica, Eowyn Laure, Arwen Victoria, Eowyn Aurora, Arwen Ceridwen, Eowyn Ivy, Arwen Morgana, Eowyn Safira, Arwen Seraphina, Eowyn Luna, Arwen Selene

Gah! This is one is hard to decide upon. I'm going to go with Eowyn - but only just. This is purely based on aesthetic reasons, because I love the sound, connotations, characters etc. of both equally. I like the look of Eowyn more, it's more balanced, and I seem to prefer names that have 'o' in them. Arwen looks aesthectially appealing too, it's more compact and sharp, and looks more conventional. I'm leaning towards the more un-conventional look of Eowyn. That said, Arwen Gwendolen as a combo is superior to Eowyn Lyra imo. Eowyn is a tough one to pair with a mn.

I adore both, and I am totally with you. My dad actually wanted to call me Arwen, but my mom hated it. :P I think they're cool.I would say use Arwen, but only because of possible spelling issues with non-LotR readers attempting Eowyn (Aiowen, Ayawen, Eiowyn, etc.). Arwen is fairly straightforward for people to spell and pronounce, and since a lot of people (sadly) are very unfamiliar with LotR, it might just be easier to deal with. HOWEVER. Arwen Gwendolen sounds redundant with that ending. I totally get the wanting to use a Welsh name as a MN, but I would steer clear of anything ending in -en. What about... Arwen Meinir, Arwen Ceinlys, Arwen Eira, Arwen Tesni, Arwen Lowri, Arwen Delyth, Arwen Eleri, or Arwen Myfanwy?

I vote Arwen Gwendolen, (I like Arwen Gwendolyn even better though), it's a beautiful name :)ps: It's so NOT geeky to name a daughter after a LOTR character ;)

I like them, but I think they need something a little less frilly for middles (Gwendolen already sounds a bit "Lord of the Rings," IMO). Something like Eowyn Jane or Arwen Beatrice. I prefer Eowyn by a nudge... but that might just be because I like the character a lot better.
