[Opinions] Jacqueline
When I was 8 I fell in love with the name Jacqueline. My partner and I decided on Caroline for a future daughter... I moved away from Jacqueline since his last name is Kennedy - so her name would be Jacqueline ____-Kennedy (a hyphanated lm with Kennedy on the end). Is Jacqueline still usable then? I certainly don't want Jackie Kennedy being the first thing people think of when they hear her name.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people will automatically think of Jackie Kennedy when they hear Jacqueline Kennedy. How about using Jacqueline as a middle name? It would be less of an issue in that case.
I love Jacqueline too. It's one of those overlooked gems. I came up with the combo Jacqueline Esme the other day. I'm not happy with it yet. So if you've got another combo I'd appreciate it.
That said, Jacqueline anywhere near Kennedy in a name will bring the former first lady to mind. Especially if her sibling is Caroline.
Personally I just don't like when something else distracts me from the combinaiton itself. So I'd stay away from it. Pity, because Jacqueline is so nice.

A few of my Jacqueline combos...
Bear, I see you were interested in some:
Jacqueline Renee (this one is my favorite because it sounds just as nice in English)
Jacqueline Serena
Jacqueline Theresa
Jacqueline Diana
Jacqueline Fiona
Jacqueline Paige
Jacqueline Olivette
Jacqueline Pricilla
Jacqueline Cecile (perhaps the second best combo)

I like Jacqueline, and I think it's usable.
What's wrong with Jackie Kennedy? She seemed like an interesting person, and she was very pretty.

Nothing is wrong with her, I just don't want her to be the first thing people think of.
Aww... I like Jacqueline a lot too.
I would probably not use it, if she would also bear the surname Kennedy. But ... if you think about it, her own generation would not have the strength of association that mine and even yours does, with images of Jackie O. It'd be sort of like someone in your generation being named Bess Truman. Which wouldn't have been quite as easily assumed to be after a FL, as being a Betty Ford or Rosalynn Carter at the time, right? Whatever ... I hope you see my point, just that Jackie O is fading into history a bit, and your future daughter's peers will not think it's as namesakey as you do.
Caroline _____-Kennedy is sort of similar, I agree with coldplayer. =( I wouldn't be inclined to use that, either. Still and all ... the famous Kennedys are generally a positive image to associate with. If you don't love any other names at all, FWIW I don't think I'd be terribly unhappy with my parents if they named me Jacqueline or Caroline, even if everyone always mentioned the Kennedys when I introduced myself. YMMV

Thanks! That's a really good point.
As much as I love both names, I don't think you can use either without getting the Kennedy family references.
Not only is Jacqueline a Kennedy, but Caroline is the name of her daughter with JFK... so unless you're okay with that being the automatic first thought upon hearing your daughter's name, then you might need to pick a new favorite.
