I can't believe there are so many positive responses to this name. I must just have a bad association to the name. I don't care for it at all.I don't see Betty as someone sweet and kind. Rather I found Betty to be selfish, controlling and a naggy type of person. Not to mention the show Ugly Betty.

I like it. Betty needs to make a comeback!

I don't like it. I prefer the nickname Bess for Elizabeth.

Betty has been growin on me more lately, too. It sounds refreshing and cute for a little girl now, rather than matronly. It has so much charm! I can see this become a more popular nickname in the years to come, due to Mad Men. I think a lot of names of that era will start making at least a little comeback.

I think it's rather nice, although I do slightly prefer Betsy.

It's retro chic and cute, but not one I'd use myself simply because it's not really my style. It would be refreshing for a child these days, though.Elizabeth is a beautiful name. I like how it lends itself to a variety of nicknames. Elizabeth is very common, but at least she could go by a relatively uncommon nickname. I'd rather meet an Elizabeth "Betty" than an Elizabeth "Liz."

I like it. It's very cute in a retro way. It's definitely better than Betsey and Beth.

It's cute, but as a joke, my family and friends call one another "Betty" when we are implying that they are old or out of date.I would like Bess better for Elizabeth for that reason.

I think I love it! Seriously, so much better than Lizzy/Liz.

I ADORE it! Betty is actually the only nn I love and would use for Elizabeth. I also love Elsie, but only for Elisabeth. I think Betty is cute, retro, under-used these days. I would love to meet a little Betty:)
