Their love is still going strong and despite their lack of interest in marriage, few couples can claim to be as genuinely and unequivocably in love. Jasper continues to travel the world giving talks on human rights at various international festivals and to various world governments. Emmy is busy as a board member of several prominent charities whilst remaining hands-on in her local soup kitchen, women's refuge and blogging. She recently helped organise a week of demonstrations, petitions and debates on the subject of violence against women and children in the US and was instrumental in the forming of a panel to look into the laws about child protections. Scout is now 33 years old and still regards Emmy and Jasper as her parents. Her happy upbringing despite the tragedy of her parents' premature deaths in a car crash has inspired her to adopt children of her own with her partner Harry , a teacher with whom Scout works in impoverished parts of the world. The family are currently settled in Ethiopia with Harry teaching primary children during the days and adults at night. Scout cares for Petra , now 10, and the new addition to the family, baby Adele who was abandoned by a local family due to being born with downs syndrome. Every free minute Scout has from the children is spent working with locals to teach them about the dangers of HIV/AIDS and pressuring government officials to increase food and water supplies and improve sanitation and living conditions. Huck is 32 and remains happily married to his wife Cecily , a homemaker who volunteers alongside Emmy at the homeless shelter. Huck has followed in his father's footsteps and works as a human rights lawyer and advisor for Amnesty International. Whilst the money isn't great, Cecily and Huck would much rather instill a sense of morality and ethics in their children than shower them with luxury goods. In the past three years their family has increased by two to include two-year-old George and baby Ada . Ben is now in school and, according to his teacher, shows quite an aptitude for debate, obviously taking after his lawyer father and grandfather! Tamara has turned three and is slowly coming around to the idea of having a younger brother and sister. Whilst not particularly intrested in George, she adores Ada and refers to her as "my dolly", giving Cecily a lot of help with feeding, hugging and burping - dirty diapers are a step too far though! After more than a decade together Stella and her partner Jack decided that it was time to give their now teenage daughters a sibling and baby Johnny was conceived soon after they began trying. With such an age gap between Johnny and his sisters Stella has plenty help caring for the baby but is careful to reinforce how much hard work parenting is - she doesn't want either of her girls to have a baby in their teens like her and Jack. Stella has now published her third novel and is working on a non-fiction book about her experience as a teen parent and why sex education is so lacking throughout the world (be it the demonisation of birth control by Catholics or the 'just say no' policy of many schools in the US). Jack's band has been a huge commercial success, allowing the family to live very comfortably. The band has spent the last year focusing on producing a charity album for Amnesty International, using their contacts in the music world to include many hit artists and Huck's connections within Amnesty International. The project is hoped to raise several million for the people of Sudan. Georgina is doing well in her school and dreams of becoming a vet. She became a vegan two years ago and was persuasive enough in her arguments to convert her entire family to the cause of animal welfare. Her spare time is spent volunteering at a local cat and dog shelter. Bella is also an animal lover but has little time to volunteer at the shelter due to her busy schedule studying and dancing. Whilst both Georgie and Bella have taken dance lessons since they were able to walk, Bella's talent is phenomenal and she received a full scholarship to a prestigious London dance academy. Whilst the school is boarding only, the family luckily live nearby so they still see Bella regularly. Recently Bella brought fellow dancer Roberto , a Florentine native, to meet her family and whilst their relationship is serious, they are both careful not to move to fast and wind up like her parents with a baby. Annie is nearly thirty now and has moved with her new Hungarian husband Simon to Brussels in Belgium where Simon works as a translator at the United Nations and Annie works as a photographer. Freddie is now fourteen and after an initial reluctance, has enjoyed the move to Brussels. He shares a close relationship with his step-father Simon who has taught him to speak several languages, a gift both men share. Freddie was delighted when Annie and Simon announced that they were expecting a baby and now dotes on his sister Katalin . Soph and her husband Alf have decided to wait a few years before they adopt or permanently foster any children. This allows them to serve as emergency short-term foster parents for newborn babies and to spend family time with the twins Tilly and Mia both of whom adore children and have expressed interest in working children in the future, Tilly as a pediatric surgeon and Mia as a social worker. Alf works as the manager of a community youth centre in central Chicago where Soph teaches several classes including self-defence and self-confidence workshops for people who have been bullied or abused. She also teaches therapeutic art classes for disabled children and loves her work so much that she has decided that when she and Alf do expand their family, it will be with special needs children. Linden has finally married his long-term love Esmé an dancer, actress and singer on Broadway where Linden works as a Tony-award winning choreographer. This year he has also been invited to work as the choreographer on a ballet-centred movie starring Esmé which is surrounded by Oscar buzz. The movie is to be filmed in London and Linden is especially excited about spending time there with his older sister Stella and her family and teaching dance classes in his spare time at the dance school attended by Bella. Esmé's career as a dancer means that she and Linden have decided to postpone starting a family until her retirement from the world of dancing, at which point she plans to devote herself professionally to big-screen acting in indie movies and also to appearances in documentary films. Keziah is also a newly-wed, marrying her German boyfriend Vilmos with whom she runs a green yoga retreat in India, dedicated to giving back to the local community by selling handmade crafts in the giftshop and employing local workers for fair wages and good living conditions for their families. Emma surprised the family this year by announcing her engagement to her girlfriend Liesel . The family quickly recovered from the surprise announcement and are delighted that Emma finally seems to be comfortable in herself and that Charlie gets on well with his step-mother to-be. The couple currently live and work at Emma's best friend Keziah's yoga retreat but have no plans about where they will settle in the future, instead taking life as it comes. Setting up a partner yoga retreat in Bali has been discussed with Keziah and Vilmos as a potential option in the coming years. Charlie delights in the travel and loves to make new friends from different cultures. His upbringing has inspired him to become a bright, compassionate and charming young man. Tamar has now graduated college with a degree in medicine and has decided to spend a few years working for Doctors Without Borders before settling somewhere, ideally close to one or more member of her well-spread family. The work is thrilling and challenging and leaves Tamar little time to have romantic relationships, but she is happy to wait until her life becomes more stable to start a family. Ivy is no longer single, having fallen head-over-heels in love with her neighbour Federico after moving with India to Venice for a fresh-start. After only a month together the pair and India moved in together and despite Emmy and Jasper's initial hesitation, once they met Federico they realised just how special a young man he was and became delighted that Ivy had met somebody so wonderful after having her heart broken by cheating Paul. India no longer sees her father who has shown no interest in his daughter over the past years. Whilst this occasionally upsets India, she was the one who first 'fell' for Federico and decided that he would be just the man for her mother. The pair are as thick as theives and enjoy epic board game marathons together, Scrabble being a firm family favourite. Ivy works at a local restaurant in the kitchen where she has been taken under the wing of the head chef and restaurant owner Pietro and his wife who quickly recognised her talent and passion for food. Federico works as a personal trainer and coaches kids soccer teams in his spare time, especially enjoying his work with disable children who other teams dismiss. Asa is now a graduate student at Berkeley where he is producing a dissertation on twentieth century genocide and volunteering in his sparetime at the Holocaust museum and raising funds for genocide struck Sudan. Asa is good friends with many rising musicians in LA and is responsible for helping to compile the second disco of his brother-in-law Jack Colquhoun's benefit CD for Amnesty International relief in the Sudan. Ivo is still with his college sweetheart Laura and the pair have moved into a house off-campus with several friends. Ivo is a psychology major and wants to work with victims of abuse specifically in the future, whilst Laura is studying biology with a desire to move into evolutionary biology. Emmy is certain that the pair will announce their engagement any day now as they have made no secret of their desire to marry and have children in the future. Sidony and Shiloh have now also started college, both travelling to the University of St Andrews in Scotland where they both study International Relations with Modern History. Sidony is busy as an active member of the student charities campaign whilst Shiloh's time is filled with cheering for the cheerleading squad and serving as treasurer for both Amnesty International and Oxfam. Whilst Sidony wants to enjoy her first years at university as a singleton, Shiloh has started a relationship with second-year student Andrew and is serious enough that she plans to bring him home to meet the entire Bryson-Harper family over Christmas and New Year.At seventeen years old Dash is now the only child left at home with Emmy and Jasper and plans to move out for college in Paris where he will study Modern History next year. In the mean time he is enjoying the remarkable peace and quiet at home, and whilst he will not readily admit this to his friends and peers, he enjoys the one-on-one bonding time he now has with his parents.Whilst the Bryson-Harper family is comprised of children adopted from all over the world who now live in several different continents, they could not be a closer knit unit, all calling, emailing and visiting each other as much as possible, whilst helping with each others careers and charitable efforts. Jasper and Emmy have raised a family of intelligent, selfless individuals who share a great love of family and compassion for those less fortunate.
