Opinions? Comments? I'm starting to like this name, it sounds sweet and interesting IMO. Any ideas for nicknames? Thanks.

I love Ambrose for a boy but Ambrosia reminds me of a pudding I used to have as a child Ambrosia Creamed Rice

I prefer Ambrose for a boy but Ambrosia is interesting. Ambrie would be a cute nickname but it's kind of hard to say. Maybe Rose or Ammie?

It makes me think of the salad...also seems like a stripper name. Sorry. :( But I do agree with others that Ambrose is great for a boy.

I really like it, it used to be a top name of mine. I think my combo was Rowan Ambrosia :)

I like Ambrosia. It just appeals to me. Plus, I like its mythological connections. NNs... Amy, Amb, Ambry, Ambra, Ambrosie, Brosie, Brosia, Sisi, Sissy, Sia ... you could really have fun with it

Apart from what has already been posted, Ambrosia makes me think of one of my favourite books "Billy Liar" because he has an imaginary country he calls Ambrosia.
It also makes me think of Ambrosius, the dog in the film Labyrinth.

It is too odd a name in my opinion, but maybe nice as a MN?

Ambrosia is the name of a fruit salad people take to potlucks (sometimes people put marshmallows in it - yuck!).

In NZ it's not like that. It's like cream and ice cream with boysenberries and marshmallows, it's so good!

It's not like what? It does have cream, fruit, marshmallows - sounds like the only difference is the ice cream. But still, if it has marshmallows, IMHO, it's not good - marshmallows are too sweet for me.

I adore the name Ambrose for a boy.

But Ambrosia reminds me (1) nectar for the gods (i.e., sounds like a stripper's name) and (2) a bad 70's rock group.

Some names just don't cross gender lines well.

I loathe the name Ambrosia for some reason. It sounds very ugly to me. However, whatever the reason, I adore the name Ambrose. That's my boyfriend's name. His friends call him Ami (Amy), but I call him Rosie.

Ambrosia. I don't really know if I like it or not. The bro- part sounds rather hard but the Am- and the -sia part I really like the sound of. It would be rather odd as a first name, maybe as a middle name?

If you were to use it as a first name I like these as nicknames:
Amy
Sia
Rosie
Rosia
