I find Wilfred to be unbearably nerdy, but at least someone with that name can go by Will, so it's not all bad.

Honestly my first thought is yech.
It is very old & dated and just doesn't sound attractive to me at all. Even Wilbur is better imo.

I love Wilfred! It's such a jolly old moniker.

Makes me think of that man who says "Dia-beet-us".

I really like Wilfred (and the nickname Wilf). It's adorable on a baby/little boy and handsome on a grown man. And Wilf is just a fun nickname - for any age. :)

ETA: I'll admit... The name came onto my radar and originally grew on me because of the character of Wilfred Mott from Doctor Who. I like him so much!
