[Opinions] Amanda
What do you think of Amanda? I really like its meaning. Is it too dated?
I really hate the nickname Mandy would that be a problem? Do you know any Amandas who go by their full name only?
Amanda still sounds fresh to me because I only know one who went by her full name all the others went by Mandy and one went by Amy.
How many do you know? Any good combos?

Very 80s, but hey, I can see the appeal. I think it would be a pleasant surprise to see today irl, actually. It's sweet on a little girl, although I still think of that Friends line: A man... duh!
I think Amanda is a bit dated, to be honest. I grew up with so many of them that it's not appealing at all to me. And I have never known an Amanda to go by anything other than their full name, actually.
It is my name. I like it, but it is heavily dated to the 80s. I've known over 40 Amandas and a few of them were exclusively Amanda without a nickname. I'm not sure about combos as I've always felt weird about pairing things with my own name.
You know, I like it. It seems quite dated, but I've made myself imagine it on some prairie girl in the 1800s, and then it's quite nice.
I really dislike Mandy too, but don't think it's a problem. I've known tons of Amandas, but don't think I've known any who went by Mandy. It's definitely not one of those nicknames that will be assumed, at least.
I could never say how many Amandas I've known. I was born in 1985, it was like the most popular name ever. I also have a cousin and a cousin in-law named Amanda. My cousin actually I think gets called Andi at home.
I like it better as a mn, so these are my Amanda combos:
Agnes Amanda
Channary Amanda
Constance Amanda
Katherine Amanda - inspired by the name of one of my favorite teachers in high school, Kathie Amanda
Zina Amanda
Huh, guess all of them are with it as a mn! Sorry, no time to make new combos at the moment, but I might try later.

It's ok, I know SO many that are my age this it does seem a bit dated - but not nearly as much as something like Tiffany. Nothing against it necessarily though I do prefer Amandine. Of all the Amandas I've encountered only a handful have actually gone my Mandy, most are just Amanda. If it were my name I'd probably be more inclined to go my Andie.
Amanda Celeste was the first combo to come to mind.

I'm an Amanda
I go by my full name, I detest Mandy. The only nickname I ever go by is Meena and only my parents call me that (it's a long story as to how Meena came about). A lot of my friends call me Manda, but that's just because they're too lazy to pronounce the first A. Ive been toying around with the idea of going by Amy once I get to college to kind of start fresh, but I think my name is my name and it makes me who I am. My parents named me Amanda Rose, but here's other possibilities my mom and dad had thought up:
Amanda Renee
Amanda Avis (after my maternal great-grandmother)
Amanda Carmelita (after my paternal grandmother)
Amanda Lynn
Amanda Maria
Amanda Maxine
Amanda Jennifer
Amanda Nicole
My mom also told me that she had considered naming me Megan, and I'm glad she didn't. I hate that name. My dad also wanted to name me Shaniqua after his childhood friend

I like it. I don't think it's too dated. When I think of "Amanda" I think of a sweet little brown-haired girl.
I only ever knew one Mandy. The other two Amandas I know are just Amanda.
Amanda Lilac
Amanda Wren
Amanda Lavender
Amanda Sparrow
Amanda Lina
Amanda Rose
Amanda Lucy
Amanda Georgia
Amanda Brynn
Amanda Winter
Amanda Fern
Amanda Gail
Amanda Louise

I like Amanda, but it is kind of dated.
Funny thing is that almost all Amandas I knew went by their full name. I knew very few Mandys.

I'm pretty sure that most of the Amandas I've met have gone by their full names, so I don't think that an Amanda is necessarily fated to being called Mandy.
Off of the top of my head, I can think of two people I've actually known named Amanda. I'm sure I've met more than that, though. I know I've run into plenty of Amandas at store checkouts, restaurants, etc.
As far as combos go, I'd avoid something like Amanda Lynn or Amanda Nicole, which scream 80's to me. Amanda Lynn also sounds like "a mandolin", which is another reason to avoid that one. Amanda doesn't seem quite ready for revival just yet, but it's still more refreshing than, say, Ashley, which has been way too popular for years. I dislike the "man" part of Amanda, but the name is decent, and it has a nice meaning. I still prefer Miranda, though.
Combos:
Amanda Jane
Amanda Colette
Amanda Helen
Amanda Lorelei
Amanda Laurel
Amanda Lisette
Amanda Vivian / Vivien / Vivienne
Amanda Rachel
Amanda Pearl
Amanda Giselle
Amanda Gwen
Amanda Gwenaelle

All the Amandas I know go by their full name, except one who goes by Amy. I think it could be a stretch but on the right kid it wouldn't seem too dated.
I knew a lot of Amandas growing up, and none of them went by Mandy.
It's a pretty name, and I'm starting to warm to it. I used to hate it, but it's all right.
Combo suggestions:
Amanda Rose
Amanda Lane
Amanda Beverly
Amanda Beatrice
Amanda Bryony
Amanda Josephine
Amanda Juliet
Amanda Lucy
Amanda Lily
Amanda Violet
Amanda Vivian
Amanda Katherine/Catherine
Amanda Waverly
Amanda Stephanie
Amanda Nicole
Amanda Mary
Amanda Maureen
Amanda Charlotte
