In the two years since Nerissa's birth, Demetrius has found himself completely pleased with his life. The recent increase in foreign activity has been extremely beneficial to both Demetrius and Alexandra. As Demetrius slowly showed his sisters he could handle responsibility, he's been given more important tasks. Alexandra has been occupied with taking care of Nerissa, except of course for her weekly parties. However, it seemed that giving birth to her daughter had opened up a soft spot in Alexandra. Even though she knew they would probably never be extremely close, Alexandra has tried being nicer to her sisters-in-law. She often took Nerissa to visit with her cousins and in doing so, realized that the relationships between herself and her brother's family weren't completely hopeless.
Despite all this, Alexandra's sense of superiority mixed in with the confidence of new motherhood raised her cruelty toward the servants, especially when it came to her precious daughter. If one little thing wasn't perfect, from the way the nurse held Nerissa to the bows in her hair, Alexandra would fly into a fit of rage. This was worsened when Alexandra discovered she was pregnant again. She was excited, she hoped that this baby was as perfect as Nerissa. The pregnancy was an easier one physically, however Demetrius was so busy with foreign affairs that he hadn't even seen Alexandra until she was at least six months along.
One morning, when Alexandra was playing in the nursery with Nerissa, her water broke and she realized she was going into labor. She'd been hoping that Demetrius would be there for this birth, but he was handling a foreign affair in Dakla. Twenty grueling hours later, Alexandra gave birth to her first son. Since he was due to return in a few days, Alexandra decided to wait for Demetrius to name their new son. They both agreed on Antonius Hyperion Leonidas, with Leonidas honoring Demetrius's father. Alexandra quickly realized that they had gotten extremely lucky with Nerissa, who seemed to inherit Demetrius's laid back personality. Antonius however, would not let Alexandra out of his sight without throwing a temper tantrum as he is already very attached to her. While Nerissa has black hair, blue eyes, and a paler complexion like her father, Antonius is the spitting image of his mother. He has her dark blonde hair, light brown eyes, and light olive complexion.
Demetrius knows that his wife isn't easy to get along with, but seeing her bond with their children and be nicer to his family has raised some hope that everything will work out for the best.
