Ari and Nicholas have been very busy since Ione was born. The young couple have been very involved in the new foreign trade, often traveling to Lethia and Dakla, Ione in tow. The two cannot bear to be parted from their lovely little daughter, so they take her everywhere with them. Despite the warnings of both of their mothers, Ione loves to travel, and is a welcome sight at the courts of Dakla and Lethia. Her promise of beauty is beginning to blossom. She greatly resembles her mother, with her dark brown hair, violet eyes, and smooth complexion. She actually looks quite like her cousin Nerissa, though she is somewhat darker in complexion; not surprising, since Ari and Demetrius look quite alike as well. The four cousins are all actually quite close and love to play together. Alexandra has been spending a lot more time around her sisters-in-law than usual and seems to be making an effort, though all three are still appalled at her treatment of the servants. Ari, as the unofficial court peacemaker, has mediated many arguments that almost came to blows between her volatile sister-in-law and some long-suffering servant. Nerissa, thankfully, has inherited Demetrius's relaxed temperment, and with her aunts and newly-motivated father they all hope Alexandra's influence on her temper can be kept to a minimum.
Ari and Nicholas were both ecstatic when they found out she was pregnant, though it was rather embarassng the way they found out. Ari, after sitting in meetings with the representatives brought back from the voyages most of the day, fainted at that night's banquet when she stood up to give a speech. Her cousin Flora immediately rushed for her husband, Chief Healer Ambrose, who with a beaming smile informed Ari that she was not ill, but pregnant! The young couple were extremely excited, especially when her sisters and Alexandra all announced they were expecting as well within only a few months. Ari thought she would be the first to give birth, and couldn't help but be somewhat disappointed when Alexandra gave birth to her son first. She was especially disappointed that her brother was absent for his second child's birth. However, he returned home soon after. He used the name Leonidas, which Ari had intended to use to honor both her father and brother. She didn't mind much, as she still thought she would have a girl. Only weeks after Alexandra gave birth, Ari did as well, to a lovely son the spitting image of Nicholas. They named him Marius, the name they had both chosen, and then Demetrius, after both her father and brother. Ari is really extremely proud of how far her brother has come, and wanted to honor him.
