I love it. :) It reminds me of the book "Crispin and the Cross of Lead" (I think that's what it was called) because that's where I heard it first.
I don't think it will get confused with Christian too often. He may end up as just another Chris, but that's fine. If he does, it's probably by choice (seeing as if he really wanted to be "Crispin", he would tell people so) and there's always the possibility that he'll get sick of being "Chris B." or whatever and be glad that he has a neat, uncommon name to fall back on.
