[Opinions] Ronan
Started thinking about this name last night. I really like it but DP isn't keen, he just sees the watery Ronan Keating. Maybe if I can come up with a nice combo. I'd like something Scandinavian possibly, not Celtic as it's a pretty strong Irish name and another Celtic one would be too much. I like Rune and Kai, but can't use the first obviously, but the second is too popular and downmarket, I think. Or a nature name maybe.

How about Ronan Sage? I think it's a lovely combo. :)

Ronan ... is it pronounced like "Rownun," or like "Rawnun?"Oh gods, you said "downmarket" ... *sadface*
Kai is not, IMO. Kyler is. I guess your footballer's son ruined it for you though.

i didn't want to say and shouldn't have said down market or lower class (hate the class thing in the UK) but couldn't think how to say it. Maybe trendy. It's just the kind of name shouted with Demi-Lee and Chardonnay down at the supermarket. And with my other son's names being popular (Aidan and Finn) am trying to avoid overly popular or trendy names.

Ronan is a nice solid name. I like it much better than Rune. I really like Kai as well, and I've never had the impression that it is downmarket. Nothing wrong with Ronan Kai as far as I'm concerned. Also, what about:
Ronan Christer
Ronan Elias
Ronan Finn
Ronan Karl
Ronan Leif
Ronan Mikael
Ronan Tomas
Ronan Valdemar
Ronan ValentinLike any?

In the UK Kai has this reputation and a certain annoying footballer has named his son this and has ruined the name even more.

ot questionis Rohan feminine to you? I heard it a couple days ago and when I looked it up I saw it was feminine which really suprised me.just wondering since you brought up the name(:
vote up1
I consider it masculine. I'd be surprised to see a girl Rohan too! Then again I'm the one who likes Rowan on a girl, so maybe I'm being hypocritical :P

I really like Ronan. It's strong, attractive, and not overused. It's too bad that Rune doesn't go with Ronan because I like both of them.Other ideas:
Ronan Sage
Ronan Basil - I know the name Basil is pronounced differently than the word "basil", but Sage reminded me of it. I think it works well with Ronan.

I like Ronan a lot too. It makes me think of a dark-haired, outdoorsy, nature-loving boy - definitely not a blond boy-band type!
Maybe one of these?

Like Ash, Vesa and the Finnish version of Hjalmar - Jarlmari.
Like Finch too, but have a friend who's surname is that so it's unusable.

I love Ronan. It might be my favorite 'Ro-' name.I need to keep thinking about combos though.. sorry.

Ronan does make me think of Ronan Keating but I think it's still ok to use. I don't like it enough to use it myself but I think I'd like seeing it on someone else's child.
How about Ronan Edvard?
