I didn't do much reading to see if the information is reliable. But Gannicus seems to be the name of a slave at the time of the Spartacus rebellion in ancient Rome. I keep trying to make it Gracchus in my mind which is annoying. But does appear to be a real name. He is used as a character in the TV series about Spartacus.
