[Opinions] Caroline or Carolina??
Okay,so,for a future daughter,I like both names and I just can't choose.
Do I go with the more traditional and solid Caroline which I feel may be a little more boring but also safer, or do I go with Carolina which I think is prettier but definitely going to cause some pronunciation confusion. I would not pronounce it like the U.S. states but more like the Italian kah-ro-LEE-nah. I am half Italian. So, what would you guys go with? Some xtra info:I live in New York, my son's name is Isaac(Ike) and I'd use Callie as a nn which would be what we called her most of the time. Thanks!

I prefer Caroline, but Carolina is lovely too. Pronunciation would be problematic, as I think most Americans would have a tendency to pronounce it like the states. She would forever be correcting people. But I suppose if she were going to go by Callie anyway, it wouldn't matter. I think, though, that Caroline goes better with Isaac than Carolina.

Kind of off-topic..my daughter's name is Carol, however, many of my in-laws, European and Middle Eastern, believe that her actual name is Carolina, pronounced as you intend to, and that Carol is just her nick-name. In fact, she's ocasionally said tat she somewhat prefers Carolina.

My name is Cara and many of my family members thought it was short for Caroline for the longest time.I like Carolina quite a bit!

Caroline. Definitely. I loooove Caroline, it's on my top 20 list, but Carolina is NOT my favorite.

I would go with Caroline, mostly because I live in the Carolinas and the Italian pronunciation just seems wrong to me. But it's very pretty and I think that if you're in a city with a relatively large Italian population it could definitely work. Isaac and Callie make a really sweet sibset btw.

If you are going to use a nn like Callie then I don't think the pronunciation of Carolina will be a problem. Reading between the lines it seems that Carolina has your heart. I love both too, but I think you'd regret not using Carolina. :-)

Carolina all the way. Beautiful classic name in my eyes, perhaps not in English speaking countries, but in many other countries. It is just gorgeous! :)

I prefer Caroline, but in your case I might go with Carolina because it can be a nod to your heritage, which is a bonus. I don't think Carolina will have a lot of pronunciation issues. I think it's common enough that not everyone will try to say it like the states.
