[Opinions] Top baby names by Canadian province... some interesting results
Apologies if this has been posted already...I found a magazine posting the most popular baby names of 2009 listed by Canadian province. Feel free to check it out here: http://www.todaysparent.com/pregnancybirth/becomingparent/article.jsp?content=20100204_101036_9240&page=1Looks like what you would expect (Emily, Olivia, Logan, Ethan, same old stuff) except for the provinces of Nunavut and Quebec having very different trends! I'm glad to see that Gloria is getting so much love! Florence, Noemie, Charlotte, Coralie, and Oceane are also welcome surprises (although I believe Oceane is quite common in France these days).

That is really neat. I'm Canadian and I had no idea! It does make sense that those two areas would be vastly different, but I had no idea HOW different they'd be!

Thanks for posting these! Really fascinating and great to see something a bit different. It's interesting to see Laurence charting so high; it's a bit dated in France. I guess it must be because of the river.

What I think is interesting is that Laurence is considered a girls' name in French.

That is really interesting! I'm a bit surprised that there aren't any Inuit names in the Nunavut list, but I guess I also don't really know much about their culture, either. And I'm surprised the the Quebec names are so different from what I'd imagine the top 10s look like for the other provinces.
