I think Elvira is a lovely name.

My father was telling me just last week that he thought Elvira was a name you don't hear enough (along with Enid and Evadne). So hooray for Elvira! She's quite enchanting. My favourite are Elvira Dorothy. And Elvira Marigold is almost singing :)

Elvira Blythe is very ... spirited! Though I admit it does sound good.

It's pretty when pronounced that way, but a little fancy for me. I'm more of an Elva type.Seeing it written, I'm afraid it's ruined for me by having had the Oak Ridge Boys' singing and the image of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark lodged in my impressionable brain. I guess those things are forgettable for someone named today, though, or at least can be easily laughed off.Elvira Marjorie strikes me.

Glad I'm not the only one who remembers the Mistress of the Dark and the Oak Ridge Boys.

Psh, I'm 25 and remember them. Elvira is still around too! She does cult-level B-work now that's not seen by a whole lot... but still, every year at Halloween, you can still find an Elvira costume at Party City! And every now and again she's in the news for whatever reason.
